Project: Alt Fuel Pressure Gauge location (Fuel Rail w/ port or New Fuel Line w/ port in-line)
Car: 1995 Acura Integra GS-R
Motor: B18C1
Other Details: Not important unless you're my soul mate
As of 1:15AM on April 8th, 2003, I still have the mechanical (non-liquid filled) B&M fuel pressure gauge sitting on top of the fuel filter.
I'm exploring other options of mounting another mechanical, liquid-filled fuel pressure gauge closer to or on the fuel rail as a quick check to see how accurate the B&M gauge sitting on top of the fuel filter is. This'll also tell me the pressure drop from the fuel filter to wherever the next gauge is.
Option 1: Do up a new fuel rail feed line and route a fitting with a 1/8" NPT port in-line so I can attach a gauge.
Option 2: Buy the DC Sports billet aluminum fuel rail which already has the 1/8" NPT port built into it, and route a gauge from that location.
Cost is gonna be a little more for the fuel rail, but simply installing a new fuel rail is a helluva lot easier than piecing and putting together a new fuel line using stainless braided line and AN fittings. I also won't have to worry about the stainless line chafing into anything else.
The one that takes the reading closest to the injectors is the most accurate.
Weighing the Costs
Option 1 priced out and outlined:
Replacement Fuel Line:
(x1) [403006] Earl's Perform-o-flex -6AN Hose (3ft) :: $25.99
(x1) [809106] Earl's Swivel-seal -6AN 90 degree Hose-end :: $15.95
.for fuel rail end to accomodate max bend radius and rail pulsation dampener
(x1) [809106] Earl's Swivel-seal -6AN Hose-end :: $5.95
.for fuel filter end
(x1) [981503] Earl's -6AN Union (Male-to-male) :: $2.95
.for fuel filter end; to enlongate fitting end for filter bracket
(x1) [939206] Earl's -6AN 45 degree Swivel Coupling (Female-to-female) :: $10.75
(x2) [Goodridge 776-06-M12] Goodridge Adapter (-6AN Male [9/16" x 18] to 12mm Banjo) :: ??
Extra Stuff to Route Fuel Pressure Gauge:
(x1) [100189H] Earl's Liquid-filled Fuel Pressure Gauge (0-100psi) :: $29.99
(x1) [100192] Earl's Fuel Pressure Gauge Adapter (-6AN IN/OUT on the run w/ 1/8" NPT port) :: $8.50
(x2) [809106] Earl's Swivel-seal -6AN Hose-end :: $5.95 x 2 = $11.90
(x1) [403004] Earl's Perform-o-flex -4AN Hose (3ft) :: $21.69
(x2) [300104] Earl's Auto-fit -4AN Hose-end :: $5.95 x 2 = $11.90
.didn't have the Swivel-seal hose-ends in -4AN size, so I had to use the Auto-fit, single-nipple hose-end
(x2) [981604] Earl's -4AN to 1/8" NPT (M) Adapter Fitting :: $1.75 x 2 = $3.50
Total Price: $149.07 + $7.95 Summit handling + cost of the (2) Goodridge banjo ends
------------------------
Option 2 priced out and outlined:
(x1) DC Sports billet aluminum fuel rail :: $139.95 shipped from http://www.digitalracer.com
.I might be able to get it cheaper from Charles at Honda Driven
(x1) [100189H] Earl's Liquid-filled Fuel Pressure Gauge (0-100psi) :: $29.99
(x1) [403004] Earl's Perform-o-flex -4AN Hose (3ft) :: $21.69
(x2) [300104] Earl's Auto-fit -4AN Hose-end :: $5.95 x 2 = $11.90
.didn't have the Swivel-seal hose-ends in -4AN size, so I had to use the Auto-fit, single-nipple hose-end
(x2) [981604] Earl's -4AN to 1/8" NPT (M) Adapter Fitting :: $1.75 x 2 = $3.50
Total Price: $207.03 + $7.95 Summit handling
All pricing taken from Summit Racing @ http://www.summitracing.com (unless noted otherwise).
Decisions. Decisions.

Re: Project: Alt Fuel Pressure Gauge location (IN VTEC)
Why not just replace the B&M with a better, liquid filled gauge....
Hell, the service bolt on the fuel filter is where you'd get the reading on a GSR as specified by the manual.... just a thought...

Re: Project: Alt Fuel Pressure Gauge location (X2BOARD)
Too easy. And it's not consumeristic enough. Need to spend more money on useless stuff for my car.
The only real reason to do it is to get a pressure drop reading and spend money that I don't have.
Man was I bored.
