Default Problems with Cluster (Spedometer) doesnt work/jumps @ high speeds

-- about 2 weeks after purchasing this car, 94 rs integra, a POS cavalier called me out. so i raced him, and as i was shifting my entire car jerks (pro shifting haha) and as my car chirped and made a ruckus. My cluster died, and all gauges went down. Then i shut off my car and reset the trip meter and it worked fine. but the spedometer seemed to increase slowly. i left it go, and the next day i raced some more and it totaly went now. everything works fine except the spedometer. egine light came on too since it has been out. im looking for a new cluster, but my friend said it actually might not be the cluster but some sensor. --- when im travling at high speeds 115+ it works but jumps to 20mph and bounces. idk what the problem is .... anyone with similar problems or know a resolution?

Replace your vehicle speed sensor (VSS) on the top rear of your transmission.

---- yuou think its the sensor instead of the cluster itself? cause it still works only @ certain specific times. but barely.

VSS's go out more often than speedometers. But since your check engine light came on, it is most likely for the VSS.
