PLEASE HELP!!!
Guys could you please help me out.
Today I got a check engine light in my 97 Intergra GS-R.
I went to a shop to get the code pulled and this is what the mechanic
gave me:
P1381 For crank sensor. Told me I need to replace the distributer.
Estimate was 598.74 for distributer plus 98.74 for labor.
When I cheched the code on hoda-tech. The list gave me the following for the
obd2 truble codes: P1381 Cylinder Position (CYP) Sensor Intermittent Interruption What the hell does that mean.. has anyone had this problem before. I am trying to figure out what this code means and what needs to be done to fix it.
Any help would be greatly appreciated,
Thanks,
Will
PS the car runs like before w/ no noticible problems other then the engine light.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! (toymx6)
LOL
some mech's talk out of their ***...
the crank position sensor is in the front of the cranck
below timming belt on obd2
on obd1 is in the distributor itself
not only that he told you the wrong description of the code..
so dont trust him with your car...
since you need a new distributor
this is the best place

Thanks man,
I just called my local acura dealer and the tech told me to not worry about it
too much. He said just reset your ECU and if the code doesn't come back... just don't worry about it. So its nothing serious. He said that if its just a sensor code, a lot of times they are BS.

sometimes missfires etc cause that code, just reset it and it will probably never come back. if it does, take off the timeing cover and clean the tooths around the pickup coil. if there is oil there replace the front crank seal.

Re: PLEASE HELP!!! (toymx6)
Also, since the code is just telling you that the sensor may have gone bad, you may as well convert to OBD1 (like your mech thought you had) and use a chipped P28 ECU. It's much easier to tune, such as with Hondata, and it will eliminate the sensor's signal to the ECU...no more CEL's. It's not SMOG legal, but it's not a bad idea. Just a couple of my pennies
