PCV valve, need some advice...
Ok, so I've been slowly trying to get this stock 90' GS that I bought from my nephew 3 weeks ago up and running. It had a brand new head installed on it before he sold it to me. Anyways, it's been smoking at higher RPM's, and after doing a search, I decided to focus my attention on the PCV valve. Well last night, after removing the PCV valve, I noticed the tube was broken where it goes into the breather canister. Now, the only way it seems to be accesible (comfortably) is by removing the intake, but I could be wrong. Now, I've read a ton of threads about catch cans and such, but nothing about replacing the breather canister. Is there a "simpler" way to fix this issue? It's like -25 degrees here in Chicago and I'd like to get this done quick. Thank you all in advance!

You want that smoke at high RPMs it means u arent running lean. If you need a different PCV valve get one from like a semi or somethin that'll be a lot stronger and will have more suction.

your pcv valve suction just depends on the pressure difference in your intake manifold and the pressure build up within the crankcase... you might be better off just buying a catch can cuz in the long run its better for your engines performance / life. if not... jus fix the broken tube no?

From the parts diagram, there is a breather joint (it's made of plastic) coming out of the chamber and the tube connects that joint to the PCV valve. Did the joint break off? Or is there still a little bit of tube sticking out?

No it broke off. Well, the actual tube broke off from the canister is what I mean. I can't reach the canister with my hands though, really tight

OK sorry for the shitty pics but all I have is my phone. The small hole under the intake is where the PCV tube goes.

The breather joint that the PCV valve tube attaches to has broken off. If you look at end of the tube that attaches to that end, you should see the remaining part of the joint. You may be able to pop the rest of the joint out of the canister with a screw driver. I believe the remaing part come out if you pull straight up.

Re: PCV valve, need some advice...
Just wondering if I can run the PCV tube with the valve attached without having it connected to the canister for now...

Sorry guys, don't mean to be a pain in the ***, but could someone let me know if it's ok to just run the PCV valve, connected to the tube without hooking it back up to the canister? Thanks
