P1336, P1337 recurring codes
Hi everyone,
My 2001 GSR is consistently throwing codes P1336 and P1337. These point to the crankshaft pulse sensor down by the oil pump. The code will only appear at low speed (under 3k) or idle speed, typically when I'm at a long stoplight or something. These are the only codes that come up, and there is no rhyme or reason to it...sometimes its 1336, other times its 1337. No misfires or anything. The car runs damn near perfect, good AFR, no burning oil, no leaks, and just got it smogged a few months back and it gets fresh oil every 3-4k.
The cylinder head was redone (all stock) about a year ago. The head I installed had about 15k on it.
From what I've gathered online, the way that sensor works is by picking up the fluctuations between the crankshaft and the sensors in the distributor housing.
My question (and what's not clear in the FSM) is...what the heck is this sensor supposed to be telling me? My old OBD1 GSR motor did not even support this sensor...so I'm wondering how crucial its failure is, other than preventing the MIL from going on.

What it means by sync is that CKP sensor reads cylinder one top dead center is matched with the CMP but at the crank there is the trigger wheel. but my teggy is 99 ls in a 94 with obd 1 diffrence was the knock sensor you can convert it and install it but not realy needed on older cars but on a 2011 6.7 diesel that thing wont crank unless it is synced with cmp while cranking

If the ECM detects interruptions in the signals coming from the CKF, it will set a P1336 or a P1337, depending on how bad the interruptions are.
You have a short in the sensor itself, or a damaged wire somewhere. The Honda service manual gives clear diagnostics procedures for the CKF sensor.

The CKF being the sensor by the crankshaft, driver side, correct? Where as the CKP would be in the distributor housing? Just confirming before I test the wires...
