would this be an oil leak or a tranny oil leak?'
i see drips of oil coming building up near the edge of the flywheel cover.

that would have been the smartest thing to do...you should have checked it out when you removed the tranny....moreover you should have noticed it when you removed the tranny

I had the same issue when i purchase an 01 b18 motor that came off an automatic car it was clean and no sign of leaks had like 40k on it, but when installed the motor with my manual trans rear main seal started to leak right away, so i guess this is a common thing when going from auto to manual.

i wouldnt say its a common thing because i went from auto to manual and i didnt have this problem...this is a common thing with old tegs....they should be replaced after a while

id say the rear main seal is your culprit...but if you feel insecure...replace your oil pan gasket as well...

did you check ur oil filter maybe its not tight enough

yeah, drips are appearing right near the flywheel cover. when i remove the flywheel, the flywheel itself is dry.
i'll check again, to see if the flywheel area is wet with oil
