Noob jack stands question
ok I've never used jack stands so yeah lol
but when I jack up the car, I use the rectangular points right behind the front tires and in front of the rear tires. I have one of those big jacks with the circular things so it takes up pretty much the whole rectangle...so how am I supposed to get the jack stand under there?
Is it safe to just jack up the area right next to the rectangles and then lower my car onto the jack stands?
Also when I'm putting jack stands in, do I have to raise both sides at the same time (do I need 2 jacks) or can I jack one side up, get the jack stand under, then jack the other side up and put a jack stand under?

What I do is:
1.jack up the front radiator support
2.put jack stands under the front jack supports
3.jack up the tow hook
3.put jack stands on the rear jack supports

Re: Noob jack stands question
another option...
my floor jack is small, so i can't use the tow hook or rad support.
i use a 4 foot long 2x4. i place it between the side-skirt and the jack with the jack in the center of the 2x4 so it distributes the load across the length of the 2x4 allowing me raise the whole side of the car. then place the jack stands at the factory jack points and lower the car onto them.
