Default no spark, kinda different, i searched, please help

This sucks, ill try to keep it short tho
EVERY BIT OF THE IGNITION IS MSD, WIRES 8.5MM SUPER CONDUCTORS. PRO DISTRIBUTOR. BLASTER SS EXTERNAL COILS
just for the record, yes i know msd goes out randomly
Drove my car all day yesterday, no problems at all. it sat for about two hours and when i go to drive it again, it dosent want to start.
So i check for Fuel, check
So i check for Compression, check
So i check for spark, and there is none
so i trace it slowly from the plugs to alllllll the way back to the external coil
when i test the coil its fine

ok so all this makes me think replace the cap and rotor, but
there is a blue and black wire on the external coil coming from the cap. Blue = Hot, Black = ground, ok so i touch the two together, while my gf cranks it, to see if i can get a spark, and i get nothing. Ok so i touch the blue wire to a fender bolt, while my gf cranks, and i get a NICE big spark.

so all in all im thinking that the ground in the dizzy is bad?

figured it out, the rotor retaining screw came out and got wedged in between the rotor and the ignitor unit crushing the ignitor unit

wow

WOW

glad you found it

I once drove cross-country with a rotor flopping around in the cap of my rex
I found out after checking everything else (DUH should have started with the easy stuff)
I was at some truck stop in indiana it turned out the hack that "fixed" the dizzy for me cross threaded the screw so I could neither tighten nor loosen it, at least it didnt fall out and eat the innards (not-msd).
The car would randomly die and not crank until the spinning of the dizzy shook the rotor back in position.
I ened up getting epoxy putty and shoving a wad into the area around the screw, that stopped the rotor wobble and I drove on it for another few states till I was back home and dremmeled the whole mess off(turns out he used the wrong rotor too, it was siezed on the shaft)

ok so it turns out that wasent it,
i checked all of the points i could to check for spark and im getting spark to the plugs
But yesterday i tried to start it so much i flooded it. so took out the plugs and let it sit overnight to let the fuel evaporate.
ok so i should be good right, NO. my battery is dead now from trying to crank it over about a days time, so i put my plugs in and i start pushing it down my alley to roll start it.
i tried three seprate times and i didnt get anything, not even a jump, it was just dead.
so as of now
1. i have spark, not the best cuz the battery was dying last time i checked, but its there
2. i have fuel, obiously because i flooded the cylnders
3. i have compression, i can hear the compression when i try to start it, i know what a dead cylinder sounds like, and mine are good, but its not like i could have thrown a valve or anything becasue the car ran just fine then it sat for two hours and when i tried to start it, it wouldent go

i have checked, double checked and tripple checked that all of my connections on my coil and my distributor are good, and that all wires are in the corect place for the corresponding cylinder. as far as i can see everything is right

can someone please shed some light on this situation, i need my car its my dd and my toy!!

ANYONE WITH ANYTHING WOULD HELP!!

all i did to the car was put on new jdm one pieces during the 2 hour time period. but i looked at the wiring and in no way are the headlights and ignition connected, at least from what i can see...

check your main relay ive read that your main relay can cause your car not to start after it runs for a while ( the connections get hot and cold causing intermittant connectivity), I would replace that and charge your battery, put starter fluid on plugs and see what happens.

This may sound dumb but get new plugs. Don't put starting fluid in the cylinders... dries the **** out of them.

Make sure your fuelpump engages the whole time.

If you have fuel and spark... like you said, it may just be plugs.

Make sure all the wires going into the main relay are good. Doubt its the problem because you'd have no fuel pump at all.

Good Luck

im stumped because im pretty sure that its not the relay because i watch my fuel pressure bounce from 42-50 psi(about) when i try and crank it, i have some plugs i used for about a month, there still good, ill try it when i get home
thanks for the input
anyother ideas?

did you replace the rotor button when you took it out? ive had a similar problem with a mpfi on a d15 in an EF where the guy thought it was a bad fuel pump, turns out no spark - after some investigation i found the rotor button was the only thing wrong..
