need quick help on axle assembly/disassembly
So, I have another thread on replacing my alternator, turns out you have to remove the driver side axle too. I was given a tip to remove the bracket holding the intermediate shaft to the block, then pry the axle out of the tranny.
Do you just have to pry the axle out of the intermediate shaft, too? is that how it comes out? doesn't seem like it wants to. and i've gotta fix my car today before work tomorrow.
I thought a ****ing alternator job would be easy peasy...

easiest thing to do it unbolt the 3 14mm bolts that hold the intermediate shaft bracket on and take the entire intermediate shaft and cv shaft out together. they are hard to separate. the intermediate shaft will slide out of the trans without prying.

yeah, I had removed those 3 bolts and swung the bracket down, couldn't get the axle out still, but I managed to squeeze the new alternator past it anyways. Probably could've done the whole thing without touching the axles.... Oh well. thanks anyways.

yeah it is a major PITA trying to seperate the axle from the half shaft.. I've never ran into problems doing it.. untill the last few attempts.. I had to go buy a 5lb hammer.. hit it a few times and worked
Glad you got it fixed
