will lucas oil stabilizer make my engine tick go away? The motor doesnt burn oil or leak, so would lucas be the best treatment to use?

Yes, avoid this stuff. It causes excessive oil foaming and (eventually) oil starvation.

i used the lucas oil stabilizer before and never did the oil come out looking foamy or anything. the car ran fine and still does run fine. oil still comes out looking like honey after 3000 miles eventhough that site calims that the oil changes into that cream color.

It may be the difference between a gearbox (the demonstration) and an internal combustion motor. Meshed gears really churn and oil much more severely than an engine will.

The point is, you shouldn't use any additive unless you know specifically:

1) What deficiency your current lubricant has,
2) What the prospective additive does and
3) How the additive will fix your original deficiency.

Bottom line: If you want a thicker oil, start with a thicker weight from the beginning.

But even then, the trend in newer motors is to go thinner with more additives (5W-20 oils) and not thicker with less additives (Lucas Stabilizer).

besides if your ticking it more than likely is valves that need adjusting.

I really like the lucas stabalizer. I used it on a 87 ford ranger work truck, that had quite a bit of ticking and a little knock and lucas quieted it up. and i've used it for probably 7 years on all my vehicles and pretty much ragged the hell out of every one and never popped any of them. so i don't know what to tell you if it works or not. i personally say it's good stuff but the write up says it'll starve your engine for oil. as far as oil changes I was told by the honda dealership that those fram oil filters woul starve your engine for oil.

I have already adjusted my valves and everything under the valve cover looked mint at 120,000 miles. What about slick 50 or any other treatment?

Never use a treatment like Slick 50 which uses suspended solids (Teflon/PTFE).

Never use ANY additive unless you really understand what it is and what (exactly) you want it to do.
