Default LS/Vtec (slash) GSR question

My buddy has a 94 GSR, he was having some noise out of the head so he purchased a replacement GSR head. Upon him bringing it home I looked at it and noticed that it was from an LS/Vtec. The plug on the head has been inserted and ground down. My question is, can he use this head on his GSR block by simply runing the external oil line like a regular LSV or will he have an issue with it due to the block being a GSR rather then an LS

Thats what I told him to do, the only issue is you can't see the plug at all. From the look of things whoever had the head previously took a grinder to it...

They probably had it welded and machined. To use the external oil line, you will have to plug the hole in the block as well, and use an ls head gasket.

Not to mention I stated that only 1 area of the head looks to be ground down. The rest of the head is dull aluminum looking while 1 spot is nice and shiny. He took the head to a machine shop today they inspected it and said the head is flush, they told him that he could drill the hole out as they didnt want to attempt it.

that tells you something right there. the machine shop doesnt want to attempt it because they are scared that they will **** it up and owe you a head. if i were you i would leave it alone and run the gsr as if it were an lsvtec with a sandwich plate and external oil line. good luck man.

machine it out the only way, if you want to run it on a gsr again just measure the bore from a spare head and let the machinist know

Your a ****ing idiot, obviously you need to read, the gsr head has already been plugged for LSVTEC, and he asked about using an external oil line. God you're dipshit.

That might be his best bet. Or like I stated before, run the external oil line, plug the oil galley in the block, and use an LS head gasket.

You are seriously a fcking retard. Do you not see the part where it says the head is already plugged for LSVTEC!? That means if he doesn't plug the hole in the block it will leak! And if he does plug it and uses a GSR head gasket theres going to be an open hole in the head gasket. Stop posting you fcking retard.

My point is you are an idiot and don't know what you are talking about, you should go learn something and actually do work on a car, then maybe you can post when you know what you are talking about. Until then, peace.
