left turn signal flashes quickly

left turn signal flashes quickly
My son just bought an old 90 Integra RS so I haven't had time to source a manual or anything. Initial problem is the left turn signal flashes quickly.
When I took the turn signal assembly out both bulbs light up and if I turn on the hazards they flash.
If I recall from other vehicles it's either the bulb or the 'flasher'. Right?
My question is where's the flasher located? Left side of dash or under the hood?

i just repaired my 1996 integra after i had the same problem. my socket in the left rear light assembly was rusted and the ground was bad. i re-soldered the ground wire and re-installed it, works fine now. you may have a different problem, but this was the issue i had.

Re: left turn signal flashes quickly
Are all of the signal lights working properly?
You mentioned the front turn signals, but not the rear.
The turn signal relay is under the DS kick panel.
Oh, If you use LED light bulbs, some of them will cause that problem also.

Thanks for the replies. Rear light flashes quick also. These are not LED.
I was looking for 1156 bulbs at my local auto store, couldn't find any so I bought some 1156NA I think but they are definatley not the right bulbs as these are very small in comparison.
1156 is the right part # though right?

Yes, right part#.
You bought the 1156 natural amber.
What about the front bumper light now? That's another one you didn't mention yet?
Bumper lights take #1156 also. You can use regular clear bulbs.
Unless someone removed the orange box inside of them. You would probaly wanna use amber or yellow bulbs.

1156NA should look exactly the same as 1156, just with the amber-colored glass.
Is this for the front bumper light or the corner light? Corner lights should take either 194 or 168 (small wedge) bulbs. The bumper light should take either 1156 or 1157 depending on whether it's a turn signal only or a combination turn/parking light.

I guess there's more lights here then I realized!
It is the small wedge bulbs I was looking at - corner lights I guess.
Are the bumper lights used for anything other than just when headlights are on?
Cars not here right now so I can't test.
I'll get this figured out. Have to change a headlight also...

Re: left turn signal flashes quickly
when my sister bought her integra (95 LS) she had the same prob. her left blinker light blinked fast and she failed NJ inspection for it. The problem was that on her harness there was a grounding block i guess you could call it (ive never seen an integra with this before) But all the grounds for the blinkers, wiper washer fluid pumps, low beams, high beams everything all went to this. the problem was the clip was broken so only some of the things were getting grounded. I dont know if you have one of these on your harness anywhere but id suggest looking at the grounds.

Re: left turn signal flashes quickly
The bumper lights should only be blinkers.
If they turn on with the parking lights or headlights, then someone rewired them.
Which would cause a dead signal, and cause the lights to blink rapidly.
If they turn on and blink, then someone did the 1157 bulb conversion using the plug harness the 94-01 Integra.

Thanks for all the input.
I need to find time to look at it when my son's not at work which is generally evenings and weekends.
I'll update this post once I get it figured out or when I have more details.

Re: left turn signal flashes quickly
I replaced the front turn signal light in the bumper and it didn't help. Then I had it in at my garage to do the front brakes and I asked him to have a quick look if he didn't mind.
He changed the bulb again and low and behold that fixed it.
So I got lucky...

Re: left turn signal flashes quickly
All you need to do is rewire a couple lights or use cheap LED bulbs to make your blinkers blink fast.
You can disconnect a bulb to make your blinkers flash fast also.
It's basically like a signal telling you that a bulb is dead somewhere.
