Post J Series DC Build 56k*no

I figured I would go ahead and make a thread about one of my builds. Usually I just end up doing whatever without throwing and knowledge out on the web. H-T has helped me figure out alot of thing about Hondas so I was hoping I could be a part of that knowledge process. This build is going to take a while but I am going to try to keep it as well documented as possible.

Car: 1994 Acura Integra automatic RS. Bone stock purchased hydrolocked with rod through block.

Plans: J series 5/6 speed DC that will be daily driven with functional hood.

Powertrain: As of right now I am still under the debate as to which J series I will be using. I am looking into the J32a2 but somehow feel I will regret if I do not go with the J35. I will be tearing the motor down for services and possibly a few internal changes. Pistons seem to be what I am debating the most. Finding a 2003 CL Type S 6 speed tranny is the goal gear wise seeing it already has an LSD diff.

Wiring:I have a feeling that alot of this will be one-of type wiring but as I run into dilemmas I will update the page as needs. Many people are going to be wondering how to go about the wiring (including me) and any input would be appreciated. Right now plans are leaning towards trying to add pins to the existing connectors, but new connectors may be needed.
Chassis: Hasport J series mounts.

Brakes: 4x100 pattern kept. Will be using CRV calipers and brackets along with fastbrake 11 inch redrilled rotors. The extra weight in the front needs a little bit extra stopping power.

Interior: Auto components exchanged with manual. Implementation of shifter box. Keeping the inside as stock as possible.

Exterior: Cutting factory hood for J fitment. New wheels (undecided as of now). New front bumper with front lip.

Enough with my hopes and dreams! Here is the beaut.

Don't mind the garage, it is a work in progress also

My current headache. Changing out pedals is never fun.

I will be keeping this thread as updated as I can but most information will probably come in bulk. Thanks and PLEASE keep flames/bashes out - and keep the informative topics in!

PROGRESS:

Brakes:

1999 CRV loaded pair. New calipers, caliper brackets, and brake pads. $86.99 at Autozone. Part # P1460. Can't beat that price. Fastbrake 11 inch rotors redrilled to 4 x 100.

Old calipers removed, going to have the CRV brackets milled 4mm at the machine shop sometime this week. My back is killing me after taking the axle out. And some people say age is just a number...

Pedals:

Finally got the Clutch/Gas/Brake pedals mounted after being in extremely awkward positions for a prolonged period of time. Ugh.

Shifter:

Automatic shifter and cable tunnel removed. This looks like it is going to be optimal for the new cables that will have to be installed. I don't want to mention the company name but I am looking into integrating some previous K cable shifter technology for the J. I will for sure keep this section updated, playing with a virgin market is a new experience...

Exhaust:

T1R catback that was previously on my 98 ITR. Everything is mounted and ready for a new cat to be installed. I have not determined which cat I am going to use yet but I am pretty sure I am going to be using some Ebay headers. Ebay 50$ and DC sports 500$. Cutting up a 500$ header would hurt my feelings.

Clutch MC:

Finally picked up MC from a buddy of mine. Cleaned it up pretty nice and mounted the reservoir...Leaving in the morning to go check out this wrecked 2003 CL Type S. Looks like 6MT LSD might just happen.

MOTOR FINALLY OUT!

B series. No go.

Empty engine bay, gotta pressure wash it some tomorrow. Notice the power steering hose seal...Finally got use out of those Durex sitting in my drawer.

Shifter slot cutout.

Had to spray paint to bottom black...its a habitual thing.

The New Testament : Thou Type-S Included

Automatic Transmission side mount taken off.
Only set my beanie on fire once while grinding this down!

Brakes installed and got some 15 inch Rota Slips... Who would have thought I loved slips?

I am trying to work on/keep this updated as much possible.

Latest on the swap: I went to the junkyard in which I am getting the swap to find out some bad information...They have taken the accessories/tranny/bolts...taken the whole swap apart on accident. They computer system had it logged as an automatic and he said they always tear down the autos for specific parts...and one of the workers grabbed the 6 speed swap and took it apart. But the good new is that the motor/transmission looks awesome. Nothing like looking through the diff to see if it was too good to be true.

They are in the process of piecing the swap back together now. More to come.

2003 CL Type S Swap:

Needs to be cleaned up a bit. The tranny looks the worst of it all, it literally is DIRTy.

Shift linkage - (and a million b series axles in the bg)

Axles

Accessories

And my favorite part. The immobilizer and key! (Key is inside the house, not in ignition )

And the infamous hard to find 03 6MT ECU ( which is EXTREMELY lightweight, weird)

I will snap some more pics as I clean the stuff up, I am rather embarassed...and also have no clue how I am about to get the motor out of the back of the truck! My car is blocking the garage with no suspension on it /hammer

A V6 260 h.p Integra? Yes please.

What are you going to use for suspension? I imagine that engine is going to be hefty. Also, I'd be concerned about big time understeer.

If you can work out these gremlins, should be an awesome ride. Good luck.

should not be that much of a problem. i have talked to sean at powerrevracing p2r.com about a j-series in my crx. he has an ef hatch that has the j32 and he road races it and is quite successful.

I have considered suspension and do realize the 60+/-40 weight ratio. This car is NOT going to be the ultimate track car, but rather a fun street car. Suspension will be determined after it is running.

When this thing starts up I will be doing the regular stuff. Shift boot, pads, pretty J series cover. But right now I am more worried about the heart surgery, I will get to the nail grooming later. I will upload some MC pic soon!

I don't know which axles work yet. When J32 is mounted I will be going over a mixture of different axle parts. I will keep sections like axles detailed and updated.
