ITR vtec Solenoid

Re: ITR vtec Solenoid (Nighthawk GS-R)
i am 100% sure that sometime in the last six years i saw dyno plots of a gsr stock and after a larger vtec solenoid install. dammm, i can't believe it. i have it with me in a stack of dyno sheets. it's a 97 type-r: "small v-tec solenoid" vs "large" but i don't know where the large one would come from, assuming it's not aftermarket. (prelude?). anyway, this doesn't really answer gsr vs. itr...

Re: ITR vtec Solenoid (Nighthawk GS-R)
if you already have one, slap it on. hopefully it uses the same vtec solenoid gasket aka "vtec filter"
the plot shows a peak gain of only 0.4whp. you can only see a visible diff. btwn 6200-7200. of course you know back to back dyno pulls with no changes can show variances bigger than this so...

Shame on you
Go Mifune, shame on you for making people like BommiE think that a VTEC solenoid replacement will give you more power. . . . .
For the ten-thousand dollar question, who knows what the VTEC solenoid does?

I apologize
Didn't think my post would be interpreted this way. It wasn't your post that I found funny, it was bommieE's response.
I understood that when you said 0.4hp increase you meant that the gains were negligable. After all, the same car can record +-2hp on two consecutive dyno runs.
Didn't mean to insult you Go Mifune,
I apologize.

Should have kept my mouth shut. . . . .

Re: I apologize (WOTTEG)
no problem. i'm so frustrated with my car lately that it doesn't take much to set me off. sometimes i'm trying to dig info out of my head from six years ago and i don't have all the facts straight. just trying to help people here before i get burnt out (how do i reset the ecu?) like a lot of people here. getting grief over a yellow wire loom or my sir badge makes me wonder sometimes why i even bother...

Yeah
I'm not sure if you do it for the same reason I do, but I love to keep my hands busy. And there is so much to learn by reading about my car and then getting my hands dirty, that it also satisfies my need to learn.
I like to learn. But when it takes 5 hours over two weeks to install an oil pressure gauge, I sometimes get pushed to the oint of frustration. This can test a man's patience. But It's worth it. Especially when I can help someone else, who is in the same situation I was a few weeks ago.
Makes it all worthwhile. . . .
