Idle very high when I start car??
When I start my car the engine will start like normal and instead of revving down it continues to rev all the way to redline if I let it. What could be the problem???

I would pull your intake tube off and look at the butterfly. If it's straight up and down the throttle is closed like it should be. If it's horizontal then it's open. That's the only thing I could think of that would let your engine rev to the redline after you start it.

Did you check your throttle cable? It may be too tight. Did you do any maintenance, or anything before this started to happen?
Also you state that it will go to redline if you let it... How do you stop it?

It's normal, don't worry about it. It's just your car warming up super fast so you can race asap! (J/K) Check all cables, etc.......

So you're saying the engine will go all the way to redline w/o you even touching the gas pedal? There is no way that can happen if the throttle plate is closed. Something is either holding it open or causing it to open after you start the car.

As for performance mods I have AEM CAI, DC 4-1, Apex-I N1, Exedy clutch, 50 shot Zex Kit

The problem actually started after I first time I sprayed in first gear. But I didnt over rev or anything like that, it just lost traction until redline and then I shut the nitrous off.

there is a return spring which keeps the throttle closed. is that still in place? if you open the throttle plate by hand, does it snap back shut on it's own after you release it?

I sprayed plenty of times in first gear and I have never had that problem. Like kkim said, take off your intake and check to make sure the throttle plate operates correctly, that's where your problem lies.

Take off your intake and start the car while it's cold, take a look at that throttle plate and see what is going on. Are you positive the throttle cable isn't too tight? Try loosening it a tad and see if that helps.

I just talked to my honda god roomate, he said that also a broken/disconnected vaccuum line can cause an erratic idle like that. Check all the hoses and make sure they have NO holes in them, because even the smallest hole can cause that problem.

Apparently he had a similar problem and when I described the idle going to redline he said that was exactly what happened to him, and the culprit was a vacuum hose.
