I was pulling out my dip stick, and......... (56K watch out)
I was pulling out my Dip Stick and the frigging thing that holds it down into the block came out with it! At first I was like WTF, "this doesn't look right".
I dont know what its called, but I've attached the picture:
So what I did was take off the heat shield on the exhaust manifold to attempt to re-attached the dip stick holder to the block. It went back in fine.. but its kind of loose tho.
Now my question is:
1. Is it suppose to be loose? as in, I'm able to spin the thing around (dip stick holder).
2. Its really hard to tell.. but it looks like theres some oil is leaking from the very bottom. I couldn't tell tho, what do you guys think?
3. Should I be concerned about this? Warranty?
Thanks in advance guys

its no big deal
try flaring out the tube that the dipstick goes into
flare out the end that goes into the block.....
and then clean off that oil that spilled out onto your block
if you see oil continue to build up....then you may have to take additional steps
its a common thing....not something to worry too much about

Yea, there have been issues with dip stick tubes being loose. Search in the ITR forum archives as i remember it being covered in there a while back

I had to fix mine as well. With the heat sheild off, I put some high heat silicone on the outside of the sleve you pulled out, put it back in and left if for a day or two. Now the tube doesn't move side to side or up an down.
Silicone is your friend. Also, I've hear of people in the states using JB Weld, but that is then a very permanent fix, not sure if this part should be removable at times or not..

same thing happened to me LOL... i fixed it by flaring it out and using some JB weld around the edges. I thought I was being extra rough, but it seems to happen often enough... Those spills should be fine -- they probably came out when the dipstick tube came out... clean it off with some carb cleaner or something, and then check later if there are any more leaks, and fix them accordingly. good luck!

Exactly. Sorry man, not to kick you when you're down or anything, it was just hard not to hold it in.
