Default I am looking for a good shop... in socal area

Hello... I just bought a 96 integra non vtech with 127k for 2500 bucks. I am looking to do a motor swap in a few months. I live in Long Beach California and I am looking for a good shop to do it for me. Any suggestions? Also... would you suggest an imported gsr motor from japan, or would you suggest buying a remanfactured or rebuilt one from here in the states? Thanks for the input guys, I am a newbie to acura's... I just sold my 04 wrx

for emissions and state laws, i think a jdm would be illegal to swap, i'd research more but i know for a fact i'd be easier to get s usdm mtoro bar'd than a jdm one (which you probably couldnt at all.) my buddy had a nismo 240sx with a jdm sr20t in it and i guess it ended up being illegal and he had to part it out or something. i'm in lbc area alot and for parts http://www.inlinefour.com they're popular and have a good rep i've baught a few things from them. as for labor your on your own

I used to live there; be really careful, there are a lot of shady shops or shops with people who don't do good work there. If I were you, I would seriously try to find a shop near Los Angeles.

know to answer your ? about the gsr motor swap

you can use a jdm gsr motor as long as it legit and it in good shape and everything is working properly and all smag device and are hook up include it must be the same year or newer as your vehicle, check engine light must not be on @ all....

also if you go this route it a process but it worth doing ....
you must get the motor & vehicle inspected @ the Ref station to get it barred if and when it pass you can now good for them amount time till your next visit once you rec the letter it will state test only or something to that degree and you dont have to go to the ref unless you plan to change your motor again....

the reason i prefer the jdm motor is the have alittle more vroooom the usdm...

The smog laws in Cali a strict so I would choose wisely on which engine you go with. I'm not familiar with imported JDM motors and their compatibilty with USDM ecus. Some people may dis-agree with me but I like "InlineFour.com." They're in Garden Grove and quite knowledgable. Check them out or stop by. They have motors, USDM and JDM, and can install for you if you like. I go they're all the time for parts because they stock OEM and aftermarket.

This was the original place that was going to do all the work on my Integra. I "copied" their owner's setup on my GS-R with a few changes. Even though I didn't end up getting work there because they moved from Anaheim, they seemed like a GREAT shop that was all about performance.

If you're in Long Beach go South Gate Auto, ask for Jorge. And if you're in the Inland Empire go to The Lab and ask for Chris.
