Default How to test for a bad Ignitor...

Hey guys...I have a question.

How do you diagnose a bad ignitor? After going thru all the hell I did this weekend, I thought my car was fixed, but it died in traffic this morning. I took everything apart, and everything looks good. One small problem...no spark. I was thinking that it might be a bad ignitor. Is there a way to test this? Thanks!

this is worth printing. i have new plugs, rotor, wires, distributor cap, ignition coil and still my car runs like it has no spark after 4g rpms.

plenty of fuel and air spark is almost scarse.

Did you ever get this fixed? I think I have the same problem. I have an EG that I just swapped in a 95 GSR engine. Everything seemed to be working fine so I started to to lay into it and it started to stumble at around 4000 rpm. As I started to drive home it began stumbling or missing even more, it even started to die at traffic lights. It would start up ok but it would want to die getting the clutch engauged. I am wondering if this is the ignitor or what.

it only acts funny around 4000rpm? thats what im not sure about

It doesnt always happen at 4000 rpm thats just when it starts to stumble. It dies at idol after coming to a stop and wants to die at low rpm when engauging the clutch. From the info I have been gathering it seems that its the ignitor could it be anything else?

u have an alarm? or had 1? sometimes its a bad ground. my friend had the same problem but it was due to a bad ground. he thought that it was the ignitor.
look 4 a helms manual or something, it might have a way to check the ignitor

My ignitor went out, and i just took the guess at it since I could smell fuel being pumped into my header. I would just change it.
