Default How to store wheels and tires for winter?

I'm going to be taking off the Slipstreams and putting on the good ol steelies for winter. How should I store the tires so they don't get weathered over the winter. I don't really have a way to bring them inside the house. I was going to wrap them up in a plastic bag and stick them under the stairs of the townhouse. Is this OK? Should I let the air out of the tires? It gets fairly cold here in Boulder so should I look for another place to store the wheels? Thanks for the help

The best place to store winter tires is in a cool, dry location. (Basement, or possibly a garage). You can lay them down flat, stacked on top of each other no taller than 4 high. This offers the most support and should eliminate any fitting problems the following fall. We also recommend that you return to the store/dealer from where you purchased your tires from and ask for storage bags. This will protect the tires from natural ozone in the air which can cause tire rubber to dry and crack. Wrap each tire individually and stack them.

they're just wheels/tires... taking them of and placing them in basement or inside house isn't going to create worse conditions than driving them in perfect summer day..

just check them before placing them back on the car

I am a paranoid. I wouldn't even leave $400 wheels (not to mention tire cost) sitting outside where any random person can walk by and take them.

I would personally clean them off very good and put them inside in a corner, maybe putting something under them, and even an old bedsheet on top. it would be what? ~28" high off the ground? maybe you could set it up as a corner table

I don't like the idea of leaving them outside either but I think I'm going to put all kinds of stuff in the way so they can't be seen. I wish I had enough room inside but I don't. I have too much snowboard stuff
