its all in your hands how often you change your oil
and how often you check the vtec solenoid filter
if there is build up just clean it up..

Hmm underneath my hood the guy the owned the car before sprayed clear coat all over everything, like the distributor cap, and vtec solenoid. It seems when he sprayed it though he didn't clean it off first. So theres nice layer of dust/oil or something trapped underneath the clear coat. Anyone know a way I can remove the clear coat safely off the vtec solenoid?

keep that oil cahnged and filter changed and you should be ok there should be no reason you need to clean it out. its not in the service manual saying to change or clean after so many miles
