How to be more effective with Auto gearboxes with sport gears.
ok , when i was buying my teggy i wanted an auto car coz i do a LOT of driving in traffic every morning .
luckily my car came with an economy/sport choice gearbox . when you use the sport
gears and floor the gas petal it goes up until 7.2rpm before changing the gear , from the dyno graph i run , it seems that it loses accellaration right after 6.6-6.7 rpm (the 2nd gear and 3rd gear). so that's the point it should change the gear ... ok with a manual i could simply change the gear ... so what's up with the auto ?
I found out that , while in sport gears , if u leave a bit the petal (im not talking about remove your foot completely ... but getting it up a bit) it changes to a higher gear , and then u can floor it again .
EDIT : a little note ... if you try the same thing with the economy gears , after u leave the petal , it will change to a higher gear but when u floor it again it will go back to the lower gear .
the reason i got sceptical about sport gears ... i saw in cars modification magazine a car with automatic gearbox and a clock with shiftlight on it and i thought wtf?!?! what's the use of it , so i ran a little experiment and found out the above
