Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
guys the airbag on my JDM steering wheel seems to slide out without having to remove any bolts. Is there something wrong? the air bag holder is still on the steering wheel obviously because it is bolted down but the airbag itself isnt attached to that.
could I get just any bolt to bolt it down?
thanks

Oh hey I have another question guys. This one obviously didnt come with the airbag inflator, I was wondering if I could take the USDM one and attach it to mine? Doesnt look like it will fit but I'm not sure.

Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
I just reolaced the steering wheel on my 96 Honda Accord EX. I didn't have much problems. The only difference was the fact the the bolt on the steering wheel you had on this post was a 19mm, mine was a 10mm. I got a used one in good condition on Ebay for $40. The new steering wheel was discontinued for my car, but the used one looks great!

Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
I know this is a old thread but does anyone know if the cruise control delete cover on a usmd itr steering wheel just pops off also? I've been trying to pull it off but i dont think it pops off. I don't want to break it

Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
The two t-30 airbag bolts are super easy to take out if you put a t-30 bit on the end of a ratchet and use a 3" socket extension. Super easy, just push it in as hard as you can so you get a good bite in the bolt then proceed to turn the ratchet. This extends the lever arm thus providing the needed torque and pushing it in hard prevents stripping the bolt. Wish I had figured it out on my first teg. This is far superior to using a long t-30 screwdriver. That doesn't extend the lever arm at all.

Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
i am doing this right now, but upgrading from plain wheel to usdm leather wrapped so thanks for the write up
the torx screws would not budge with my screwdriver so i put the bit in my 1/2" electric impact with some adapters and they came right off :D

Re: How To: JDM ITR SRS Steering Wheel Install
I know this is an old thread, but I made this account just to post some rather important information regarding this wheel (which answers a couple of the questions people had above). Nobody seems to have this info so I hope this will help someone.
These wheels are hard to find with the inflators (for obvious reasons). When I imported mine from Japan, it was missing the inflator. I unfortunately found out that the USDM steering wheel's inflator is too large to fit...which led to me getting roped into buying a $150 airbag (which had the inflator) on eBay which was an unnecessary expense...but I want my SRS functionality, you know?
Well, when I received the airbag, I saw the inflator has the following model number on it: BAM-PT-0593. Wouldn't you know it, 98-00 Honda CRV airbags use these exact inflators (along with a few other non-Honda car models, I believe). The CRV airbags typically sell for $60 or less...and could easily be sourced from junkyards. Remove four nuts, pop the inflator to the JDM SRS wheel and bam, you'll have your SRS functionality back.
Hope this helps!
