Only way to become a better driver is to DRIVE. You have to find out what your cars limits are, IMO.
Do a search on google for the following:
Heel-toe down shifting (or just Heel-toe)
Rev matching
Clutchless Shifting / rev matching
Launching
Staging at the Drag Strip
IMO: Everyone needs to know how to properly revmatch / downshift. Save the trannies y0!

Re: (pope)
well this integra is my first manual car and I think I broke the syncro due to my driving. this is what I did when I want to gain some speed from dead stop (not racing or anything): rev to 3000~4000 rpm while let go of the clutch half way, when the slipping stops then I let go the the clutch all the way. I had no idea I was wearing out my clutch/tranny all this time, that's why I Want to do some research.

yeah..... that'll wear the clutch pretty bad.
Learn the engagement point of the clutch. Stall her out if you have too. But learn where that clutch engages and how much gas needs to be applied to maintain an equilibrium.

excluding the sarcastic newbie's input, its all good feedback thus far except.
Do some reading and practice. Remember that you run the possible cost of a clutch, tranny or engine or the safety of others on the road if you mess up, so be smart and safe.

Re: (IntEGNYC)
IntEGNYC, Am I the "sarcastic newbie"? Also, why did you throw the word "except" on the end of a sentence, kind of odd. I have shifted without a clutch probably 100 times, and i know that you have to wait for the revs to match otherwise the dogteeth won't mesh. This will take a lot more time than having the syncrhonizers do the work for you and get the gears up to speed.

I think if you have a manual car, you need to know how to clutchless shift.
When My clutch went out, if I didn't know how to clutchless shift. I would've had to spend 180 bux or more to tow it back.

Not with an constant ALL synchromesh trans and helical cut gears you dont. (Unless you're actually racing of course, my bad)
I WOULDN'T shift without the clutch too often, but I have just playing around. You really only need to rev match on downshifts in my experience with any trans made in the last 40 years or so.
Just my .02 cents
EDIT There are 2 very different reasons for rev-matching and they have nothing to do with each other.
#1 you rev- match when racing (weather using the clutch or not) to keep
the engine in it's torque band, via heel-toe and rev-matching, etc.
#2 In the old days before modern transmissions, YOU HAD TO double-clutch AND rev-match or the car wouldn't go into the next higher or lower gear. Because straight-cut gears didn't have synchros and they were not in constant mesh, because they COULDN't be. But with modern trannys and clutches you don't need to do all that extra work. UNLESS you are racing. But then you do that extra work for a different reason as I previously explained.

I know on integra trannys you have to wait for the revs to drop with up-shifting, otherwise it'll grind. I dont think the gears are always synchronized. Or else i'm doing something wrong. As long as it doesn't grind and you do it right, it shouldn't hurt anything. Actually maybe easier on the car than using the clutch(no clutch wear).

Re: (tND2k)
i rev-match around every damn corner, heel and toe is just a fancy way to rev-match, not neccessary though..
you don't really need to clutchless shift. its just kinda cool, but not necessary.
