how do i do this?
im painting my valve cover and cant exactly figure out how to strip the paint. other than sand it for ever, is there a fast way? and also do i really need to strip the paint? and i may be interested in giving it a smoothe surface rather than the rough surface it has now. how would i go about that?

The rough surface you speak of is just the kind of paint they used, so strip it, sand it a little, and use some other type of paint, the kind they use on valve covers is like "Wrinkled texture" or something...

^This is a Spanish company that makes custom colored rattle cans for graffiti. They had a write-up in Honda tuning about them. People have had pretty good results painting their valve covers with this paint. Its all about the prep work.

what about like, theres a rough surface on the paint. what if i sand the roughness down? ive done that but i cant get the paint completely off. would this work ok?

ok well nvm i bought this stuff at advanced auto parts, and its amazing. you spray it on, leave it for 10 mins and then i wiped it off with a rag like dirt, sprayed the rest off with a hose. awesome stuff.

that would be the paint stripper everyone was telling you about.
Make sure you get all that **** out from your valve cover. Spray the **** out of it with a hose. Spray in the inside of your valve cover out with a hose and then shake it dry. Spray the whole thing with brake cleaner. Inside, outside, everything.
Shake it out again to make sure you get all the bigger puddles out. Put it in the oven at like 250 for a while till it's completely dry.

do that and then wipe it down with acetone when your done because that stuff will leave an oily residue. Then just paint it, might want to get high temp, and clear coat it also.

Nah. The valve cover really doesn't get THAT hot. I guess if you were road racing in the summer, it might bubble the paint a little bit. It wouldn't run down the block, though.

you really don't need the high temp, i have done valve covers with regular paint but i find that high temp is more durable and it is the same price

there was an article in Honda Tuning a couple months ago. Theres came out amazing.
Ill see if I can dig up the article, because the paint they used was really nice stuff.
