Default Help: RMP's increase when I rapidly press brake pedal??? Just finished brake job!

I just put new pads all the way around on my 99 GSR and replaced one of the calipers. When I was finished I bled the brake system. When I went to drive the car I began to press the brake pedal rapidly to test for pressure and the engine reved up by about 1k over normal idle. Does anyone have a good Idea what the problem may be or what is causing this to happen.? Thank you, Allen Cunningham

i might guess that ur car was not warmed up? my R does that too from a cold start, the rpm will rise to about 2300 rpm or maybe higher im not sure. could be something else somebody may know. good luck

Ok I finally searched and found something and people say it happens because of air being released by brake booster. Now my question is "Will my car stop doing this or should I attempt bleeding the brakes a second time?". Any body that has technical knowledge please help me out. THanks, Allen

Umm...how high do the rpm's go? Because it's normal for it to do this. . .

Ok. I never noticed it before doing the brake job though. I guess I'll go ahead and bleed system again because it seems as though I have to push pedal to far down for braking. Thanks for the info, Allen

Yeap. It's to do with vacuum.

I'll also do it if you push down the brake really hard, then quickly release. Mine does anyway. Vacuum.

As for having to push far, may be pistons in calipers reaching back out, or air/moisture in system. Wouldn't hurt to bleed.

its ABS related..I posted a thread like this a year ago..

has to make sure enough pressure is in the system to operate properly.

That sounds more like a definite answer.

no, really, it has to do with vacuum. the ABS system has en electric pump to make pressure. that only changes the engine rpm maybe 25-50rpm up. vacuum, however, is one of the major physical phenomenons that allows an engine to work, and is the reason the engine speed rises when you require a lot from the brakes. engineering major (soon to be, i mean, why would an engineer drive an integra?)
