help! put chevron fuel injector, now check engine light is on!
so i got an oil change yesterday and along with my oil change i put in some chevron techron fuel system cleaner with a full tank of gas... ive heard a lot of good things about this stuff so i decided to try it... then tonight, i drive my car around for about 15 minutes and then the check engine light goes on!!
this has happened to me before about 5 months ago, but it wasnt this chevron stuff i used. it was slick 50 high mileage fuel system cleaner. back then, after using it, my check engine light went on and when i went to get it fixed, it showed that my catalytic converter went bad. so i got that replaced with a magnaflow one and its been okay ever since.
den yesterday, before buying this chevron stuff, i read "this will not harm your O2 sensors or catalytic converter." whattha hell? i shud of never put this stuff in!
i only drove it for about 2 minutes with the light on. what can i do to prevent even more damage? tomorrow im gonna get another full tank of gas to make the concentration in my tank less dilute. is that a good idea? please help me. i hate it when i baby my car, then bad stuff like this always happens

Maybe the check engine light is for something else. Check it yourself so you know the shop you take it to isn't trying to rip you off. https://honda-tech.com/zerothread?id=978933

cool thanks for the thread! i searched but didnt find this. right now the cel isnt on cuz i reset it by disconnecting the battery. if it goes back on (and hopefully it doesnt) im gonna try to figure it out.

yeah i did that today before i started driving. ive driven 55 miles since doing it and it hasnt come back on, and hopefully it stays that way. im trying to put regular gas in it whenever i can to lessen the concentration

i bet you have some crud holding open one of your injectors. after i had my injectors cleaned with a motorvac, i had a code 16, and it drove kinda ghetto. after about a week or two, the problem suddenly went away after driving it hard on some curvy roads.

so ive driven it today 100 miles after disconnecting the battery to reset the CEL and it hasnt come back on since. ive also gotten a full tank of gas twice today. the first time i only got 3 bucks worth and da second time 5 bucks worth heheh... im hoping that it had greatly lessened the concentration of that chevron stuff

forreal? all i know is im NEVER putting any of this stuff in my car again... all it does is mess my car up! i try to give my baby a little "treat" and this is what it does to me! from now all im giving her is gas and oil changes
