HELP! I can't get my driver's side axle out! i'm half way done :(
OOPS* i meant to say i CAN'T get my driver's side axle out..
sup guys.
i'm in the middle of changing both my axles. i managed to get the new passenger side axle in no problem, but i can't get the old driver's side axle out.
it looks like its attached to another shaft that goes into the tranny. what do i separate? the shaft going into the tranny? or do i separate it from the middle?
i know almost nothing when it comes to this, but it looks like i'm supposed to pop it out from the middle.
any ideas on how to pull it out?? the passenger side was easy but now i'm stuck on the drivers side.
any help would be greatly appreciated! TIA

pry the driveshaft assembly with a screwdriver to force the set ring at the end of the driveshaft past the groove pry where the driveshaft meets the trans..pull on the inboard joint, and take the driveshaft out as a whole.

Re: (96GSRkId)
ok i just pried off this brass colored ring and exposed where the drive shaft meets the tranny. this is what you're talking about, right?
so after that, i gotta pry some more where the driveshaft meets the tranny and pull on the inboard joint?
i'm not sure what the inboard joint is. thats where the new axle plugs into, right??
thanks for your help!

you < Helms Manual. Sounds like your having a tuff time. The guy above that posted is on the money. If you can afford it, you should invest in a Helms. It's like owning the Bible. You can't ever go wrong by owning it Keep us posted. Installing aftermarket axles?

Re: (Haleiwa-Brando)
My driver side axle is always a bitch to get out of my DA for some reason. I just use a dull brass chisell and smack it once or twice w/ a hammer and it's out - no it won't tear anything up as long as u don't hit it like it was ur exgirlfriend.

Re: (nub.96ek)
LOL. holy **** i can't believe i just finished changing my axles for the first time without a helms manual. i feel like the meanest baddest ************ right now but my back is effin killing me.
i got both of these remanufactured from Kragen. each one from different locations. CORE CHARGE HERE I COME! money money money money
but anyway, yeah i didn't know i was supposed to take the three bolts holding the driveshaft to the block.
once i took those off and pried out the brass ring from the tranny, the whole driveshaft just slipped out.
RELIEF!!!!!!
i was following this write-up:
