Default Head Gasket. Is OEM Best? AND: Torque Specs? (ARP)

its going on a GS-R block and will be squished down with ARP head studs through a B16 head.

so OEM or aftermarket or whadda?

and, does anybody have the torque sequence i should use with ARP head studs? do you do them all at 25, then go back and do them all at 45, then go back and do them all at 80? (that is just an example, not actual numbers)

was told ARP head studs should be tourqued to 80ft-lbs. correct/incorrect?

ACTUALLY. when you search "best head gasket" it comes up with a billion finds... that i really dont feel like searching through for a simple answer. its because everybody puts what kind of bad *** head gasket they have when they describe their vehicle. i too one day would like to be able to do this, as soon as i find out with head gasket is the most bad ***. haha. any opinions?

OEM is best for a stock or semi builds. If you're ordering a new set of ARP headstuds, it should come with torque specs.

fel pro gaskets are perfectly fine, call ARP for the proper torque sequence and specs though, not the same as factory at all

i torque mine in OEM sequence and using the lube ARP provides i torque them to 68lbs and have never had any come loose. I've double checked after a few months of driving and beating on it and they're still tight like they should be.

When it comes to torquing any mating surface separated by a gasket, I like to take as many steps as possible. Use the Helms manual for the proper sequence. Better safe than sorry.
