Since you didnt say what year car it is, nor if the moonroof is powered or not, its kinda hard to say. I know the hacks at the stealership had to take out the headliner in my 94 GSR to fix the power moonroof (under warrantly) so that should give you an idea of the work involved....meaning...its easy, but time-consuming since one is dealing with interior parts and such (lotsa screws, gotta be careful not to scratch anything, etc.)
With a little more info, we can probably help you out some more.

Damn, the same thing happened to my friend's Mazda 626. Sure hope it doesn't happen to me.
But when I had my headliner out a few weeks ago to fix a water leak, it looked like the whole sunroof assembly would drop out quite easily after removing the nuts/bolts.

same thing happened to me...i went to the salvage yard and bought a new piece of glass along w/the rest of the roof for $100.....it was pretty easy....i installed it myself, took about 40 mins after i figured out what i had to do.

There isn't a whole lot to changing them out if it's just the glass. There are covers on each side of the glass with screws underneath {4 I think} Just raise the roof just a tad so as to relieve pressure and to enable yourself to get to the bolts. Be sure to count the shims and notice their alignment when removing the bolts so that you can put them back. Good luck
