Hey guys im thinking about swapping my da and putting an h22a in it. I heard that a bseries trans can hook right up with a h to b conversion. I was wondering the pros and cons of keeping the stock a1 trans or would it be better to go with a h23? Any advice would help.

More aftermarket support for b series transmissions. That is the main perk. Gearing, LSDs, and clutch/flywheel stuff are all more readily available. More options and lower prices. I also think with the b series transmission you can use a b series trans mount. Someone correct me if I'm wrong.

b-series trans are lighter,better gearing,and take abuse a little better

Alright is there any b trans that you reccomend? Like gsr or something like a b16 trans?

Gsr is longer gearing, b16 is shorter. If you want better refinement and gas mileage on the highway choose Gsr. If you want outright acceleration choose the b16. Or you could get a b16 transmission and swap out 4 and 5 for Gsr gears and have the best of both world's.

depends if you need a more fuel effecient-ish gearing there is the ls-trans
and there's the b16a1 ys1 trans that has extremely short gearing, i used to own one, extremely high rpms on the freeway

or like the dude who commented before, go for the GSR trans, like he said best of both worlds

Thanks guys. Really helps. Im looking for more of a quicker trans with shorter gears. This swap if more for the speed rather then gas mileage haha.

I would highly recommend a hydro gsr trans and then get a cable conversion kit from innovative. Easier to source parts that way and the gsr gearing as a great match for the power band on an H22. Unless you are strictly running it on a track the b16 trans won't be ideal.

Ive seen the cable to hydro conversion not fit properly. Plus it over complicates the whole set up. I hear you in saying the b16 gearing will be a little much on the highway. But what OP could do is stay with a cable b16 trans and then swap out 5th gear for an ls gear.

My roommate added it to his ef and it works very well. It bolts up easily and has room to operate properly. I haven't seen any downsides. And I don't see what everyone likes about putting in a super tall 5th gear, it ruins the feel. Tried it, would never want it again.

I googled some gear ratios and i seen that the a1 trans has a pretty close final drive to all the gsr b16 ect and actually the a1 trans has shorter gears then the b1 trans. I might stay with the a1 trans and just put a new clutch in it ect and then later on swap it out for a gsr or something
