LSD means limited slip differential, which like previously stated allows both front wheels to spin. This in turn creates more traction, which helps with acceleration. Also the shorter gear ratio allows for quicker acceleration too. Also if you have the newer ITR tranny you have a 4.7 final drive.

Re: GSR tranny vs ITR LSD TRANNY? (viet_sensationz)
Traction in an open differential is limited to the wheel with the least traction. the ITR LSD has a torque biasing unit, which can supply greater wheel torque to the wheel with higher traction to improve overall traction. This is greatly helpful during corner exit where the inside wheel is traction limited.

The gearing on the ITR transmission would be better for your turbo application as well. First gear in both transmissions is the same (USDM versions).

second third fourth fifth is shorter than the gsr. so gsr will be better

Are you going to present the "spool longer" myth? Sigh. The shorter gears of the ITR transmission are better period.

the motor will spin faster to redline and you'll feel like you've run out of gears with an itr trans and a turbo app..... most tend to go with a gsr trans or ls trans due to the slightly longer gears.

With the stock redline of 8000 on a GSR, the GSR will hit ~160 MPH with the GSR transmission, ~149 MPH with the ITR tranmission, and ~182 with the LS transmission. Unless it is a full out race car with above a 150 MPH trap speed, the ITR transmission will be better in the 1/4. They can "fell" the pull while they are losing because of the inferior ratios.

exactly. with the gsr you get best of both worlds, hence why i said gsr is the better tranny for boost.
plus you need all the acceleration you can get from a N/A engine thats why it's nice to go with a ITR.

With all else equal, the ITR transmission will defeat the GSR transmission in the 1/4 with turbo or NA. To hit 150 MPH in the 1/4, you need a 9 second car.

I would think that in 1/4 mile only the LS tranny would be better with turbo, because you don't have to shift as much.
When I drag race with my stock GS-R tranny, I'm right at the top of 3rd at the 1/4 mile. With an ITR tranny and turbo you might even have to go all the way to 5th before the 1/4 mile, which would make your ET slower than if you could hold 3rd or maybe 4th all the way to the 1/4 mile. Of course it would depend on what trap speeds your putting down.

Re: GSR tranny vs ITR LSD TRANNY? (viet_sensationz)
i recently went from a gsr lsd tranny to a stock usdm itr tranny. In my gsr civic with 195-50-r15, i average 1 mph faster in the 1/4 mile and i'm about 0.1 sec faster for a similar 60' time. Thats the hard part tho, brand new itr clutch i can peel into 3rd now if the track gets cold.
I'm just about ready to shift into 5th when i cross the line now too. i think my upcoming ctr cams and aebs mani will really help out by putting some more power up at redline where i'm dwindleing at the finish line.

Correction on the FD-

No way... think about it as long as you dont shift like a f****** grandma that wouldnt matter the shorter gears are gonna have you reach peak boost faster... no matter how you argue and think, unless you get a custom built tranny that is built to match your setup the itr will absolutely dominate over a ls tranny
