GSR running rich, spark plugs white (too hot). Discussion wanted
I can tell my GSR is running rich (horrid gas mileage, not to mention my A/F gauge telling me so) yet my spark plugs indicate they've been getting too hot (indicating a possible too lean fuel mixture). I could probably use a tune I know, but before I do I want to fix what I can. Chime in with your two cents, it usually helps.

Not completely sure on that, to be honest. I know it's OBD-1 p72 or P13 (which would be the simplest explanation for it running rich) because the IAB is working. All the serial numbers were removed possibly by the previous owner.

Que? My first post states that my gauge indicates a rich fuel mixture. Even without it I would have been able to tell I was running rich. It's the spark plugs that throw me off a little.
Maybe I should have asked for only two cents that are indicative to a solution...telling me my gauge is cheap based on your inability to read properly is not needed or welcomed

post is worthless so far
what engine as has it been modded? a stock b18c1 will use a p72 ecu period. if it's changed so might the ecu be
change the fuel filter and make sure you have 40+psi at WOT
use a ngk heat range 6 plug and drive

Intake manifold is a brand named "HAD", which is hard to look up, so it may not even have IAB.
ECU has only "94 Civic" written in marker on it, so I'm assuming p28 ECU. Has chipped switched to "OFF"
I have a fuel pressure gauge, indicates 40+
Using Iridium IX heat range 6
AFR is 11.1-11.5 at idle.

even with slightly different manifolds a gsr on a p72 will run fairly well. the p28 is just designed for another engine which has a completely different map signal due to different cams and less displacement

I agree, I could definitely use a tune. I would just like to get the proper ECU before I go to my tuner. I really need to figure out the brand of intake manifold I have. If it doesn't have IAB then my unknown chipped ECU will probably do. If not I need a p72, or new intake mani. Ever seen or heard of "HAD"?

bingo, wrong ecu, get a p72 or, since that ecu you have is obd1, chip it for crome and run a p72 basemap. look at the sticker on the side of the ecu, it should be p28 something or another

that "had" is the throttle body and is oem.
there's no real technical about it. a p72 map must control the engine. it doesn't matter how you do it, just make sure that program is burned on your ecu
now if you still have the gsr intake manifold you have to use an ecu that controls the iab's and that's only the p72. and or you could switch to a blox, skunk or performer x and use your p28 with a p72 map

Lol @ me. That totally was the throttle body. The intake mani is definitely not a stock one though, and could be a no name replica. Nobody makes an aftermarket intake mani with IAB, right?

correct, post a pic of your im and i can probably tell you what it is.
in short, if you have a blox manifold or something of the sort, sure a p28 ecu will work provided you put the correct map on it with something like crome

blox, old skunk, some sort of itr copy. a p72 map on your p28 will be absolutely fine. you can actually milk a bit more midrange with an actual tune since the timing can be bumped up in the 3000-5000rpm band with a single runner. probably not worth the cost but you might be able to find a single runner gsr map if you ask around. burn that onto your p28 and your car should run like a dream
by the way, why is the vacuum line not running to the fuel pressure regulator? see that vacuum port on the upper right of the manifold, that should go to the fuel pressure reg

Re: GSR running rich, spark plugs white (too hot). Discussion wanted
When I installed the AEM fuel pressure regulator I didn't have that line so I looked up if I could run without it and turned out I could, so I left it be. Fuel pressure is higher, but I don't know if it affects performance.

Running without a cap on that is akin to driving with a vacuum leak, as it is a vacuum leak.
Do you normally have it plugged at all?

It has a cap on it. The yellow in the picture is a rubber cap. The vacuum line on the back side (out of sight in the photo) is also capped.

Re: GSR running rich, spark plugs white (too hot). Discussion wanted
Well since I need a tune even if I do all that, why not just have the tuner give me a custom map for my vacuum line-less fpr? That seems to be the simplest and least expensive thing to do.
