Gsr failed smog!!
So i have a 01 gsr barred in my crx as a 94 gsr (obd1) and this is the first time trying to smog it after bar. After i passed the bar test, i swapped out my cat for another one so i can preserve it. So its been sitting in my garage for 2 years and just put it on the day before i smogged it.
Failed all three test for the 15 mph but passed for the 25. Pic is below.
I had a AEM fuel rail on which he failed me for, but with oem fpr and oem everything. Nothing was aftermarket except my exhaust.
The tech said the AEM rail might be the cause because its for a higher volume for fuel or something. (I only have the rail on because i got a good deal on it with a fuel pressure gauge on it)
Is the AEM rail really why i failed? Or could it be my cat?
I got my cat really hot, I was running 91 (of course) with 3 bottles of ISO HEET, but i have about 3/4 tank.. I was trying to kill some gas but i couldn't wait. Timing says it was at 16, but i put it to 14. And i just changed my oil and put new plugs and a new pcv valve in.
I guess my main question is, will the AEM fuel rail somehow make it fail? I mean i had the oem fuel pressure regulator on.
I'll try another cat i had in the garage. I didn't see anything in the honeycombs in that one, but the one i just used that failed me had some stuff in it. I could still see through it though.
Thanks for any feedback!

Re: Gsr failed smog!!
No i highly doubt the rail is the issue, it just delivers the fuel to the injectors if it has a oem fpr it should be fine i passed with that rail and a oem fpr.
freshen up the engine as much as you can like new oil change new air filter plugs ect. and try another cat.

Re: Gsr failed smog!!
high HC, CO, and NO are usually due to bad cat .however from what i study, a bad cat would usually fail over 15-25mph test but u only fail the 15 and pass 25 but that emission book is outdated now as i heard they upgrade to a new version so i might be wrong. i haven't done any obd1 emission yet due to broken dyno at my shop but before i had my license we had a dyno and i was a bit interest in it. if a new cat doesn't help u pass then u have other issue such as timing, ignition or running to lean. as wungfstgsr mention it not the fuel rail as long the fpr is correct.
