GSR Exhaust Stud Hole Leaking Oil

GSR Exhaust Stud Hole Leaking Oil
Hey guys, I've read 2 other threads about this with no answer, so I'm going to try to get a solid answer. I just got a GSR for my EG, and 2 of the Exhaust Studs were broken off, passenger side. I noticed an oil burning smell after taking it up in the RPM's in 1st and 2nd, while staying under about 40mph (cruising at 60 I don't smell oil). then i discovered oil coming out of the 2 stud holes, where it looks that on the PO's broke them off, and attempted to drill them out unsuccessfully. There aren't any threads really, so I can't teflon a new stud. Should I just throw some high temp sealent in it, or... Someone give me some insight please.

I answered your other thread...it's NOT oil if it was you'd have that dummy light on is a few miles. It's the water in the exhaust mixed with the exhaust it creates a nasty oil like mess, trust me I have one missing and it's like that too. Here's why that gunk is escaping from the outside of the exhaust manifold flange as with 2 suds/nuts missing you're not getting the full clamping force needed to keep that **** inside.

I'll post pictures tomorrow. The Integra we pulled the motor from had oil sprayed all over the block, firewall, valve cover, etc etc... I've got oil on my hood near the radiator, my core support, and I'm guessing it's getting on the fan cause it's slowly spreading.

Hmmm ok should have said that in your OP don't go driving it oil is hell to clean up from the bay not to mention the risk of running your engine dry of it.

The degreaser works pretty well, and I check my oil every day. After about 150 miles it's dropped from the top dot, to almost halfway to the second dot on the dipstick. I keep extra oil in the car. Just wondering what I need to do to fix this.

Re: GSR Exhaust Stud Hole Leaking Oil
I'd say re-tap the holes for a bigger thread but it seems like they hit the oil passages(not good) it might work but it might not. My suggestion is a new head but I know not everyone want's/can go out and just get one so I'll let someone else answer.

I'll get another head eventually. Just want a quick fix for now.

Alright I plugged the hole with high temp epoxy. No oil from there now. But I leave a trail of oil whenever I hit vtec. Whats next to check? Head gasket? VTEC Solenoid Gasket?

Re: GSR Exhaust Stud Hole Leaking Oil
My car also leaks oil from the header bolt someone decided to use a larger bolt than stock in mine and blew threw the back into an oil passage. I keep a bolt inside mine to keep it from going everywhere. New head is the only solution.

Re: GSR Exhaust Stud Hole Leaking Oil
Alright sealing the hole worked. Now I have another issue. The breather box. There's no bolt on the bottom side of it holding it onto the block, so oil comes down onto the exhaust at high RPM's. I took the bolt out of my B16 but it doesn't seem to fit the GSR. Are they supposed to be the same size?
