clean it with a brush or sand paper, whatever is available. Then rub a thin layer of grease all over the terminals to keep it from happening again.

Here's an easy *** way to do it:
1: Grab some baking soda
2: Mix with some water in a bowl
3: Use a brush/dip paper towel into solution & soak terminal in solution
4: Watch cool-*** aquamarine bubbling chemical reaction
5: Rinse solution away
6: Brush terminal to bring up fresh metal
7: Spread some conductive grease
8: Tighten up terminal clamp & yer done!!

If there's little cracks in the battery case where the terminals come thru, hydrogen can leak out there. When it hits any moisture it makes acid...
If you can't bend or mangle your battery connections so they fit tightly, then you might have to get a new battery & new cables.

Just do it the right way bro and buy a new set of cables for the battery. Ghetto modifications might not be good later on. But it's up to you. Good Luck

i had this happen to me once before. i mixed baking soda in a cup with water and used an old toothbrush and scrubbed the terminals with it. worked great and the "powder" never came back

You probably need a jump start since it sounds like the battery is almost dead. Get jumper cables and have someone help you jump start it or you can have someone help you with a push start. If the car starts drive it around a little while to get the battery charged again.
