I have a greddy kit , and it is NOT c.a.r.b approved, e-manage does not = blue box.
Just find someone who CAN make your car pass smog, or smog it and then install the kit.
Cali did not leave me much of a choice : /

I just called Greddy and confirmed that e-manage kits are NOT legal, they were legal back ~8 years ago when the kit came with an FMU instead of e-manage.
That document was signed in 2001 and refers to the old kits.
I am thinking about contacting some one from ARB, so I can get my carb sticker.

If your worried about car passing smog. Then just try to make the car all motor. I was going to go greddy turbo till i realized that smog would just kill me, so now im going all motor and just getting parts from Skunk2. Which they will help you out with prices if you call over the phone.

Well all motor just means no boost, but you still need stuff like cams to make power. And OBD2 does not like any upgrades at all. I don't know if the stand alone units are friendly with obd2 and will pass smog without producing failure codes.
You prety much need to know someone who can make you pass smog or do what Japanese do, unbolt aftermarket parts , put all stock parts back on, drive around~20miles, go pass smog, bolt turbo back on , and be happy for 2 yrs.

Just buy a Jackson Racing Supercharger setup, about the same power as greddy kit at stock psi and also carb legal... plus Moss motors is in California...

Hey, ima noob at this **** too, kuz i have the exact same problem, cept i have a 2000 gs-r. Im looking into the greddy kuz its more affordable and i got about 4500 total to spend, so the edelbrock is just out of my price range. i know that it wont give me too much power, but im just looking for something to give my ride a lil more punch to it while still remaining smog legal. its a bitch to find someone to cheat for u. I have a couple questions tho

1)so to my understanding if i bought the greddy kit now, it wont come with a carb sticker? what would i have to do to get one? and how hard is it to get?

2) since the kit doesnt come with an intercooler, is it possible to run the kit without the intercooler and just buy and install one later on down the line? how much is this gonna affect the performance? i thought it really wont have too much affect because the psi is so low.

3) i read in here somewhere that its all pretuned, so wont be needing a dino sesh?
