Good HP with the stock GSR intake manifold?
I'm planning to rebuild my 94 GSR, 130k and it likes oil. It runs good though. Thought about a .020 bore/hone with ITR pistons, ITR cams and basic bolt ons (I,H,EX). I like the way my GSR runs now, but I think it could be better. It is a daily driver, freeway flyer, no track or autox. Should I junk the iab manifold for skunk2/ITR or will I loose a lot of low/mid range power?
TIA

H-T GS-R owners with the S2 IM will report un-noticeable losses.

Re: Good HP with the stock GSR intake manifold? (skunkintegra)
Thanks for the link skunkintegra nice car, nice numbers. Not to hijack my own thread, but, would you buy thr RS*R Ex-mag again? Do you like it? I want a quiet catback. Got the Greddy MX on the LS in the CRX and it works good but would be too loud for the Teg.
Anyone else on the GSR mani?
TIA

i would buy the rsr again... BUT only if i needed the car to be quiet!
This is my daily driver, and i've been hasseled badly by the man- so this exhaust keeps me incognito! I really love it! sounds so badass
I've never heard a straight-thru Greddy SP or Apexi WS so im not sure how much louder they are, but they are less restrictive for sure!!
i hear good stuff about Fujitsubo also!!

I highly suggest a skunk2 IM
If you want to make really good power your going to need to get rid of that gsr IM. Skunkintegra.....if you upgraded to a skunk2 IM I would bet that you'd see pretty significant increase in numbers.

you'll loose low end/some midrange, but you'll make it up up top.
why have there been so many Skunk 2 manifold threads lately? It's about time for the "Official Skunk 2 Intake Manifold Thread"

all b series pistons can be bought eith with normal size(81mm) ir .25 over sized (81.5mm)
and honda just came out with the .40over pistons for the itr (82mm)

what?
standard honda = 81mm
OE oversized made by honda = 81.25mm
OE copies made by other companies come in 81.5 and even 82mm
Honda never came out with .40 over pistons or .50 over pistons

Erick Aguilar runs the stock manifold in his car. Aparently when ported correctly it's capable of flowing enough air to push a 10-9second all motor hatch down the quarter mile.

Re: (maggsgsr)
Remember then when modding your car its trying to get "ALL" your mods to work together and create the power.
Take this for example. Why would you use a stock exhaust in a turbo setup when you could easily just spend the cash to get a 2.5"-3.0" exhaust and improve performance drastically, but some people have to go stock to save money. But remember, engine parts all work together. If you get headwork done and you have no other mods, chances are your going to lose power, because all the extra air flow you opened up.....well there isn't any more power to help push that air through the open space.
With some mods slapped on your car, a seriously modded car. Intake, Header, Cat, Exhaust, Camshafts, Cam gears, Headwork.....a Skunk2 IM would make a seriously significant difference. Thats when the IM matters the most, factoring it into your other mods. Your goal to modding should be to make all your parts work together.......I don't know how else to explain it. But in the long run yes you will see very good gains from the IM, more then the numbers you think, as you of course continue to mod your vehicle.
Skunk2 IM
Or some people resort to porting their GSR IM, which is off topic, because I think this guy was comparing the Skunk2 IM to the Stock GSR IM. Which in that case, the skunk2 IM is obviously better for a well powered engine.

Re: (patdemps)
If you end up going with the skunk2 im, I advise you to chip your ecu.
If you dont, you will loose a **** load of bottom end power due to the computer reading teh dual-butterfly system. A chip will override this and you will see full function out of this product.
For a while I ran the stock p72, but then got a chipped p28 (skunk2) and I couldnt be happier
