Default fuel pump not priming......moisture in ECU??

Hey all, new to honda-tech. I've got a 94 integra rs w/ high compression gsr swap, chipped p28, big tube header w/ header back, intake, coilovers, etc. Anyways I've been having issues with my fuel pump wanting to prime when it rains out. I've checked everything from the main relay to replacing capacitors in the ecu. Turns out the hatch was leaking so I got the bright idea of taking my wifes hairdryer to the ecu to warm it up and evap any moisture in the ecu......well the fuel pump primes, relay clicks, and CEL goes off. So I've narrowed it down to the ecu. My question is (and sry if it's the wrong thread or if anyone even knows) but if I were to use a conformal coating (electronic safe clear coat) on the circuit board along with fixing the leak would solve my issue. Also would I have any problems using that coating on the ecu? Sry again if this is the wrong thread or even the wrong forum, if so I'll hop on an electronic forum and ask. Thanks again

It should not be a problem, but fixing the leak should solve the problem by itself, 94

Thanks for the reply, I just want to do everything in my power from having moisture get into the housing (if that's really the problem.....couldn't see it being anything else). Id go as far as using foam weather stripping around both front and back cover to make an air-tight seal for the ecu. Really hate to have to not just find the right ecu, but spend the money for it, remove and re-install the chip/socket, and re tune

New to the forum, 00 Integra Hatch.
The engine cut out while driving home and I figured it was the fuel pump.
I jumped it to eliminate a bad pump and it primed and started just fine.
So I checked the fuses and they're all good. Could it be a bad ground somewhere and how do I find it.
Thanks for any feedback.

Thx for the help, I will test the PCM relay. I'm not getting any clicks like the article says so it's probably the solder joints cracking.

Yes.. Take the relay out and pop it apart and resodier the dry joints..

Search around lots of write ups

Thx Jimmy, the soldering's an easy one. What I'm thinking about is a sloppy ground somewhere. I've read where the thermostat sending unit may be a source. Confusing that this would be the main ground point for the PCM. When I jumped the fuel pump out, it started and ran like normal. Soldering the contacts might fix the ground problem I hope.

The main relay powers the pump when you hit ignition 2 on the key cylinder.

The grounds at the thermostat housing are for ECU and PGM-FI Main Relay, [injector relay ground] ground for fuel pump relay is supplied by the ECU. 94

Sometimes even replacing all the capacitors in the ECU doesn't fix the fuel pump not priming problem. Borrow a known good ECU.

I got a piece of plastic drop cloth and made a little hood to lay over my replacement ECU to keep the body dry. I didn't totally wrap it cause that would trap heat.

I had an intermittent issue with my pump. The original problem was my ecu. The relay under the steering wheel is often a culprit too. My problem was the cowl. Replaced all seals with weather stripping and put silicon adhesive on the cowl. Hope this helps. Also trunks usually leak at tail light seals.
