Default Front End Vibration

I got a 1992 Acura Integra GSR. Under Acceleration the front end vibrates quite a bit.. While driving it isnt too bad.. but still a very slight vibration.

I would like to know what could cause this?

I know my wheels could be the main culprit, so I am going to have them checked and balanced tomorrow..

If the wheels arent the problem... what could be the other reasons? bearings, axels, etc.....

please... need help asap.. dont have a lot of money, and would like to fix this on the first shot.

thanks.. any opinions would be great.

Could be a few things, start ruling them out.

Check your wheel bearings first.

Jack up the suspect corner, grab the tire at 12 oclock and at 6 oclock, push on 12 oclock and pull on 6 oclock and vice versa, if there's play (clunking), you need a new bearing. That or you can try slaloming left to right @ about 30 mph, if the vibration get worse/more noticeable, you can determine which side.

Check your CV boots too.

I've had a vibration under acceleration. It was a CV joint, inner. Check your boots, and feel for play in the CVs. Also could be the transmission. Make sure you have enuf fluid. Would be good to just change it out. I've had a bad wheel bearing too. It made a sound consistant with the vehicle speed, and did not change under acceleration. My wheels are swiss cheese from potholes. They give a vibration based on speed too, not accel. Good to get them balanced though!!!

So I say, inspect CVs, change trans fluid. Wouldn't hurt to do other inspections as well.

Nothing else will cause vibration under acceleration?

thanks.... now that you mention transmission fluid.. there is some VERY LIGHT leaking coming from around the seals of the transmission.. I changed the fluid a few months ago and since ive noticed a LIGHT build up of tranny fluid on the bottom around the seal. im gonna check the fluid level right now..

thanks..

what are some other tranny fluid options other than the Honda MT Fluid???? Lucas???

I'd run a search on that one. I know I've seen a few threads cover that. I've only used Honda's MTF.

Grab your driveshaft on the passenger side where it goes into your tranny. Try to move it up and down to see if there is any play. I also have severe vibration during acceleration, but on steady speeds, no matter how high, barely any at all. My driveshaft has major play where it goes into the tranny. It is my differential bearing that is shot and allowing major vibration under acceleration. I will be swapping it along with the clutch this next week.

I had a friend who had a similar problem. Instead of CV or suspension related problem, he had a problem with spark plugs and distributors shorting out. After replacements the vibration from the front end was gone. Hope this helps...
