Few problems. 1992 Integra. Help needed, apply within.
So my cars been out of service for a few days now and i've been thinking to myself about a rebuild. I recently took the car to the Dealership to figure out what was making my car rattle so much at idle and they told me it was a torn rear motor mount.
Now considering that, PLUS the fact that the car has close to 240k on the odo, my question is:
-*Is the motor (stock B18A1) worth rebuilding?*-
I work at a local auto parts store so replacement parts like gaskets and tools won't be too expensive. Its the OEM parts like belts and stuff i'm worried about. Plus like i said, is the motor even worth rebuilding?
As for the motor itself, its all stock, I have no past records so i have no clue on any maintence that has been done to the car. The car runs fine, no burnt oil, no leaks, no squeeks or anything. It's just i would rather have a sound piece of mind rather then worrying about my motor going out when i need it the most.
As for experience, i have the bare minimum requirements, but i do have trusty friends who have built motors before. As far as the motor, it will all be put to OEM specs. I don't build race cars, just flashy jdm trinkets . Yes blame me now, but i am utterly the worst driver in the world, and i'd rather not attempt something i really don't enjoy ie. racing.
My basic plans are as follows so far:
-Water pump
-Timing belt, well all belts.
-Thermostat (hoses are new so no need)
-Head gasket
-Misc gaskets here and there.
-Fix the mounts
My second question though is:
*-If i attempt this rebuild, is there anything else i should worry about, or do/fix while i have the engine out of the bay?-*
Thanks in advance guys. And if anyones wondering why i don't just leave the motor in the car while i attempt this, its because i'm a neat freak, and i'm pulling the motor out to do a minor wire tuck plus clean and repaint the whole engine block and misc parts.

it seem you can get cheap parts with no problem i say go for it. at least you know its all new. i think you got everything coverd. try to do most of your gaskets and you will be straight, especially the rear main seal. dont want to have to drop the tranny all over again

are you rebuilding stock or rebuilding performance? if you rebuild stock then its for reliability and if you plan on keeping it and making it last...its worth rebuilding if your adding performance and want to do something like that...so it all comes down to prefernce...
