Exhaust question --> 2.5 inch too big and too loud?
ok.. I have a DC Sports 4-2-1 1 Piece Header with a 2 inch collector. I have a 2.5 inch Carsound Cat, 2.5 inch 18 inch long Magnaflow resonator, and a 2.5 inch ES Technical Roadsport Muffler (straight through like the magnaflow mufflers). I plan on using 2.5 inch crush bent piping.
now the car its going on --> 1992 Acura Integra GS-R (1.7L B17 VTEC).
So now the questions:
1. How do you think this will sound? too loud? raspy, deep? just rite?
2. If I used 2.25 inch crush bent piping and just expanded the ends to fit on the cat, resonator and muffler, would that be ok? sound different?
3. Or just stick to the 2.5 inch piping
4. What if I used a 2.25 inch tail pipe? Would that quite things down and still work good?
What do you all suggest?

1. Too loud (but hey, it's subjective...I find my SP loud...)
2. I think the 2.25 would make it sound a bit quieter, but I think the difference is negligible (again, this is subjective)
3. What mods do you have? If you have turbo or high performance N/A, stick with 2.5 if you want to maintain your performance...otherwise, switch out.

I just got my exhuast done on my gsr. I got a hi flow catconverter no resisonator and a magna flow 4 inch muffler, the car also has great pick up and hte nouise is just great. I got it done in a 2.5 inch stainless steel so if that helps.

sadly to say mine is like 5 inches.
It isn't as loud as I though.
2.5 will sound and look pretty good I imagine

I hope so.. b/c a 5 inch full exhaust??? i hope you're running a turbo from a diesel transport.

you shouldn't step down in piping size. Meaning the cat shouldn't step down from the header and the exhaust shouldn't step down in size from the cat. If you have a 2.5 in cat then you should get a 2.5 in cat-back

Yes get a cat (save environment), multiple resonators, quiet muffler, shift earlier (not 7k)

Re: (SlamminS85)
what do mean by different sound? im using the crush bent because it should narrow the pipe up a little.. but its not going to restrict flow at all since the 2.5 inch is already a large pipe diameter for my application.

Re: (92integraVTECgsr)
i regret gettin my crush bent exhaust...such a waste imo...id just save a little more and get a cat back system...but its all up to you man...im just sayin i had regrets..also..the crush bent piping sounded like ***...i had a 14 inch resinator..cat..and magnaflow oval and it sounded ricey as hell..now i have an apex n1 catback and i love it..performancewise and how it sounds..

Don't bother with a 2.5" exhaust if your collector is 2".

why do you say this? just because of the difference in size?
last chance everyone...
use the 2.5 inch? or go 2.25?? (that would mean I would have to sell everything asap because the car is sitting with all the parts off)

2.5 is the highest for N/A, and is obviously the least restrictive. It is going to free up much more power than a 2.25 exhaust. If you want a quiet sound just make shure you have a resonator and a nice muffler, it should sound just fine.

if you plan on upgrading in the future get the 2.5 pipes because it allows your engine to breath easier, don't use the pipes to muffle your sound, thats what the muffler is for!
exhaust restriction
2.5 is good for N/A anything bigger is for turbo

ok first things first. the bigger the piping the less backpressure. unless you are running a turbo I suggest a 2.25" straight through with no resonator. 2.5 will be loud but lose backpressure. 2.25 will be prime.
