Default electrical problems???

Hi i'm new here and i'm looking for any help i can get with a 2001 integra my friend just bought. Its a 2001 gs with a b18b1, the issue is that the rear defrost doesn't work and neither do any of the dome lights to light up the interior of the car, and i don't think the antenna works either. I thought the dome lights were because the previous owner had an aftermarket sterio in the car, because my civic lights don't work when my doors open. (my civic has a pioneer sterio). but the integra now has an acura sterio and the lights don't work at all, even when switched on. Also, when the dome light is switched to turn on when the door is open- the door ajar light is on, on the cluster. has anybody had similar issues? or does anyone know of any solutions? I appreciate any help. Also, the car has 109,000 miles and we don't know if the timing belt has been changed, but when i took the valve cover off, it looked like it was in pretty good shape but didn't seem to have any markings on it, would the original one have any writing on it?, thanks -Mark

Jesus, my integra is a '94 LS coupe and I just started having the same problem last night, except my defroster still works... But my headlamp/washer fuse has been missing the entire time I've had the car and they both still work!

has the car been hacked up for anything? like aftermarket alarm, deck, etc. some wires could have crossed and shorted out. check the fuses first. if that's fine trace those wires. see what they're connected with. like in my old flip light integra, the tail lights were fused with the interior lights. and i didn't know that my interior lights were out because i kept them off anyways. so i didn't know that my tail lights were out till i got pulled over

I tried doing the usual check on mine, with fuses and wires. My friend mentioned it happened to his sister's DA integra and it had never gotten fixed.

I have a clue at what might be happening, there is probably a malfunction inside of or right around the integrated control unit, since all symptoms are related to the circuits of the integrated control unit, and it is effecting a couple of the other things connected to fuse no.3 on the inside-dash fuse block.

I'm going to be investigating this more today.

i'm still trying to trace the problem as well, the car had an aftermarket stereo and speaker box in the trunk, but its disconected and an acura radio is hooked up now, some of the fuses are screwed up, theres a 30 amp in the heater a/c block, and a 7.5amp somewhere else where there should be a ten amp, so i'm going to go ahead and fix those this weekend when i get ahold of his car again, but other than the old radio, the car is bone stock. I'll repost after i get to look at it again tomorrow hopefully.

- Upon further inspection, fuse was blown.

Goddamn I feel stupid. I just hope that it doesn't blow again, then I have a serious problem. But can anyone enlighten me as to how this fuse might have blown? Maybe turning on the car so the antenna was beginning to extend while switching on a light or two?

i got the same problem but with a little extra the corner lights in the front dont turn on and i think its my defroster goes on and turns of after 30 mins of driving but if i mess with the top light it turns off.this all happened when i installed a radio pioneer deh1900 i think i dont have it anymore due to theft but im guessing it has blown a couple of fuses

probably could be a bad ground wire cus i would get shocked once in a while when i leave my car but after my radio got stolen it stopped

That's pretty funny. The defroster is actually supposed to go off by itself after a while, there's a rear defroster timer circuit inside of the integrated circuit.

All of my passengers did happen to get shocked while I was having this problem, which was funny. I guess this problem might have to be due to the radio I have installed. The manual would say that it needed to be hooked directly up to the battery due to the unit's high current draw. I thought that was strange and I never intended on running a high-power sound system, or any auxiliary equipment. So like a dumbass I just wired it the same way I would with any other in-dash unit. I guess I should definitely consider the radio as a possibility.

okay, all of the fuses are good to go, and the defroster still won't turn on, neither will the dome light or the other overhead lights by the rear view mirror. When the bulb is out of the dome light, the door ajarlight goes out, but i have no idea whats going on? where is the integrated control unit? and should i try replacing it?

I have this same problem with my 2000 GSR. My dome light doesn't work, map light turns "door open" light on, and yeah the rest of the stuff. I checked and replaced my fuse but it did nothing. Im going to check my fuses again tomorrow to make sure i didnt screw something up.

The problem started happening after I replaced my antenna. OEM mast broke so i replaced it with one of those hidden antennas. I may have grounded it wrong. Actually I may be certain that thats the problem because when I accelerate my radio cuts out, and when i let go of the accelerator it comes back on. Does that sound like a bad ground?

The newb thing would be to start a new post and have another thread that could be useless.

Bump for me having the same symptoms, hating electrical stuff and not having my multimeter with me while traveling.

Bump! Used the SEARCH button and I have the same symptoms. What number fuse needs to be replaced?
Symptoms:
"Door open" light always on
Rear defroster doesn't work
Antenna doesn't work
Both dome and map lights don't work
Front corner lights don't work.

All happened at the same time all of a sudden. Any insight will help. Thanks.
