Need help in picking Intake Manifold for mildly built ls/vtec.........
Hey guys, I'm currently debating between a skunk2 and AEBS intake manifold for my project. The parts list so far for my ls/vtec: a 2000 b16 head, stock valves, ITR inner and outer valve springs and retainers, and skunk2 stage 1 cams.
parts coming: jdm p30 pistons and rings, apr rod and head bolts, new rod bearings, possibly new rods (debating, i want an 8300 rpm redline), and a jdm sir2 throttle body.
I can get a skunk2 intake manifold for ~$200 USD plus shipping, and the aebs is going to be ~$50 cheaper. considering the parts I plan to be using some advice would be great...........

Get a skunk2. It will give you good midrange, and no need to have all the upper RPM power like the JG gives you (I doubt you'll be revving far past 8k, and that's where the JG really ads power)

yeah, i decided against a JG because it is supposedly better suited for built all-motor or FI, but this discussion is between skunk2 and AEBS. any other opinions?

If you'll search, you'll find that the AEBS manifold outperforms the Skunk2 in every way, including price. There are a few dyno charts in the All Motor forum, but I'm not sure how recent they are, or who posted them.

Re: (Kendall)
I did a search in the ITR and integra forums, there was no definitive comparison. I will do a search in the allmotor forum and see what i can come up with. I read an 11 page thread in the itr forum with no clear results on how effective the typhoon intake mani is.

yeah, i just did a search on aebs manifold in the forced induction forum. seems that they are really good manifold for the money and seem to perform better than the skunk2 manifold. i didnt exactly see any dynos or anything like that, but thats what i read in some threads.

You'll find that most comparisons that test the effective performance level of certain aftermarket upgrades can be found in the All Motor and Forced Induction forums rather than the chassis specific forums.
