distributor cap/rotor ( oem vs. auto store)
Going to be replaceing cap and rotor pretty soon and i was just wondering if there really is a difference between the oem and the auto store distributor cap/rotor. I've always been using oem for all my cars but since gas price been so high I don't mind saving a few bucks.
Also I took a look the the kragen cap/rotor and it is made of brass, which is a better conductor I believe(???). And the rotor has teeth on the edge.

Re: distributor cap/rotor (IVI)
On both my 90 and 96 i have run aftermarket with zero problems. Dont forget honda does not make every part on the car. They outsource parts and have there name put on it.

so its all pretty much the same, i know oem wires are "way" better than some pep boys for a fact, and just thought it goes for everything else too.

Re: distributor cap/rotor (stock_cx)
I've used Bosch cap and rotors a couple of times , without any real problems. However, one time after putting on a Bosch Cap, my ignition coil died. I'm not certain that it was the cap that cause the coil problem.
Since then., I've decided to use OEM cap and rotors. But overall, i think it's fine to use aftermarket cap & rotors.

Re: distributor cap/rotor
i buy oem.......here's why: on my old accord, right after i did a tune up, my radar detector started going crazy.....id drive and itd just go "laser, laser" all the time......i was going crazy trying to figure out the problem.....i even tried someone else radar detector (a whistler just like mine) and it did the same thing!.....so, i tore apart my car trying to figure out what was setting it off cuz it was making me nervous....i mean, if something is off enough to make my radar detector go crazy, thats not good!!......i narrowed it down to my ignition and tested my coil....it was fine....then, i finally gave up and took a shot in the dark and decided to call whistler.....i told them what was going on......the first questiong the whistler rep ask was, "let me guess, you have a honda or acura?" and then followed up by saying that i need to get an oem cap and rotor......so, i did and everything was fine! lol......ever since then, i only buy oem cap and rotor cuz i figure that if something is off soo much in the aftermarke ones to makes my radar detector go crazy, then its probably not good for my car!....sorry so long!

Not all aftermarket is the same, it is like saying: should I buy a new car or used. It really depends on who makes the aftermarket (I mean, if they are manufactured by the same place it is the same right?)
Here is the OEM for honda:
Radiator: Showa
Thermostat: Nippon
Water Pump: GQ
Sparkplug: NGK
Wire: Sumitomo (Yasaki on my original set, but replacement gave me Sumitomo)
Accessory Belt: Bando (spelling?), mitsu-boshi
Timing Belt: Gate
Cap/Rotor: Denso (I think)
Oil: Mobil
Coolant: Who the hell care
Tire: Who the hell care
Bulbs: Who the hell care

i get a discount at the dealer, so the oem parts end up costing about the same as the aftermarket ones anyways....i guess thats why money isnt an issue for me when it comes to buying parts, so i just always buy oem!

I would go with aftermarket. Like someone said above, the OEM is overated. Just try toget pretty good brands. I like wells forcapandrotor. Neverhad any problems with them. Of Denso and Bosch are good too. Be careful of the new brands that have been on the market for only 1 year or less. If you are not sure ask the part peopleand make sure you get a good warranty.

Re: Re: (ILOVEGIRLS)
found some cap and rotor made by YEC from japan. i think it is TEC that makes oem cap/rotor. but for $26 dollars shipped you can't beat the price.
