Diff ?? noise on standing start
RE: My Honda Integra with auto trans
I am experiencing a low deep noise on accelerating (even moderately) from a standing start.
Had to change front wheel with space saver wheel because of a puncture/deflation.
I think this may have caused the noise problem because of the possible different sizes of the wheels. Also the noise occurred after the space saver wheel went on and did not go away after the space saver wheel was replaced.
Any assistance would be appreciated?

Re: Diff ?? noise on standing start
Any more details on this "noise"? The noise a diff makes when it starts going bad is similar to a whine like a dog box makes (from my experience). Maybe when you put the spare on the dust shield got bent? I really doubt running a smaller wheel for a little while caused any damage.

Re: Diff ?? noise on standing start
Advised by mechanic that it is a split rubber engine mount and unlikely the gearbox. Noise is engine vibrating on chasis (metal to metal)
Nevertheless: HONDA should advise on spare wheel and put another advice near tyre tools that space saver wheel only to go on non drive rear wheels and after that transfer rear normal wheel to front drive as replacement for damaged wheel/tyre. THAT IS COMMON SENSE INSTRUCTION. Who reads a user manual when urgently needing to change a flat tyre on a busy road. Nobody !!!
Better yet! Put real sized wheels in as spares!
