Let the car idle and warm up to operating temperature. Watch the temp guage, and once the needle gets to where it normally goes while driving, within five minutes, the fan should kick on. Just let it idle, and if the guage does start climbing, and the fan doesn't kick on, then you know you have a problem. Turn the car off, so you don't overheat. If the fan isn't coming on, hook 12v to it with some test leads, and test to see if the motor is bad. From there, you gotta try the fan relay, then if those are all working, try the ECT sensor. That's what I would try. If anyone has a better way, let me know, cause the way I do it takes some time.
