Default conventional motor oil v.s. synthetic motor oil, what do you think?

is it worth it to use synthetic oil versus conventional oil. i've heard people that swear by synthetic and others that say it can be bad for your engine. i use conventional in my car but am thinking about going to synthetic...

what do you think?

Do a search. The only topic that has been beaten up more than this one is the "Which exhaust sounds better" topic.

Drew - Who has used synthetic oil for 10 years and will continue to do so until someone shows him something better

if you change your oil often either should be fine.. you should be OK w/ conventional if you do 3K or so oil changes..

myself I'm a sythetic oil user even though I change it every 3K...
since i do my own oil changes.. it costs me about the same (around $20+) to use synthetic and a premium filter as it would to drive my car out to a shop to have them do the oil change w/ bulk/generic oil and bulk/generic filters..

Synthetic is better than conventional oil, but in my mind not worth the cost.

Either are fine if frequent changes are made... That is if you do the upkeep..
