Clutch squeak..
Ok so when my clutch pedal isn't pushed in it squeaks, kinda of sounds like a cricket chirping. It doesn't matter if it's in neutral or in gear and seems more louder when the weather's cold.
My question is what do you guys think is causing the squeaking? My first thought was the throwout bearing but after a little talk with a mechanic that gets parts from my work (Kragen ProShop) if it were the throwout it would squeak when the clutch pedal is pushed in. He says it may be the pilot bearing.
Also when I got my new clutch set put in (bought car with a blown clutch) I noticed that a packet of grease that came with the set wasn't even touched when they were finished. As far as I know, this packet is to grease the shaft and not the bearings..?
TIA for the input.

Take off the slave cylinder and boot and look inside the transmission while the car is running. Without the slave cylinder in place, you can move the TOB away from the pressure plate such that it is not spinning at all.
To start the car, push down on the clutch interlock button underneath the pedal. DO NOT push the clutch pedal at any point with the slave cylinder off.
