Default Clutch reservoir dry, do I need to bleed?

Today I went to move my car and found my clutch pedal had excessive freeplay at the top of its travel. I looked at my clutch reservior and it had no fluid! So I filled up the reservoir w/ fluid, had my friend pump the clutch pedal, and after each pump a small bubble would come up in the fluid reservoir. We did this until no more bubbles came up. Car seems to drive fine right now. Do you think I still should bleed the clutch system?

had the exact same problem. looks like your clutch MC is leaking.. buy a new one at the dealer for ~$110. don't get the ones from pepboys or kragen

Yes it most certianly is you clutch master cyl. Look under the dash and where the pedal attaches to the master cyl. rod you will see wetness at the firewall if its leaking.

I checked the fluid again today and it's still full. I could have sworn it also had fluid in it when I checked it less than 2 weeks ago before driving to GA for thanksgiving. Could this have anything to do with me unbolting the reservoir while installing my HID's (had to relocate alarm siren)? There is no way I can afford a new MC right now.

just replaced mine a few weeks ago....almost made me wish I had a cable tranny . Its a pain in the *** to put in. I bought an offbrand MC for 70 bucks, and its worked fine so far.

Keep the fluid full, and as long as its not leaking too bad, you should be ok till you can afford to replace it.
