Default Clutch Problem?

I went to the track not to long ago for the NHRA event in Englishtown,NJ. Now this was the first time i have ever raced my car but i think i have a prety good idea how to drive it. Well the fastest time i could get was 16.1 at 89mph and a 60 ft of 2.39....theres has to be something wrong with my car rgiht? Well my friend with a stock gs-r as well is running 15.07 at 93 mph and a 60 ft time of 2.32. When he saw my timeslip his jaw dropped. So he wantwed to drive my car and when he comes back he says my clutch sucks real bad. now could this do that much damage on time? So i got into his car and drove it and let me tell you it was like driving a totally different car It enaged faster and reved faster! Now what the hell is going on here cause we're both stock yet his car is a full second faster than mine and his car is a 96 gs-r and mine is a 2000 gs-r his has 80k miles and mine has 50k miles. Can somebody please help me out to find out what the hell is wrong with my car?

I don't know about your clutch, and really nobody can unless they feel it.

But your 60ft times are really hurting your times. What is your trap speed? That will give you a "somewhat" good indication on what your time "should" be.

How are you lauching the car? If you really want to get a good time down just for reference in the future (i.e.: "My car runs XXX seconds in the quarter"), then you want to do an aggressive launch, not a typical street launch.

You want to make sure you keep the revs high (higher than you think). On a Honda, you want to keep the revs just 500-800rpm BELOW your peak torque rpm. I'm not too sure with GSR's, but I'm sure it's like 7500something, right?

Sounds high, but that's how you need to do it. Say 7500rpm is your peak torque. Keep your revs around 6700-7000rpm. On the second yellow light, you want to SLIP your clutch VERY fast.

This is the hardest part of the launch. Even on stock tires with minimal suspension work, it's conceiveable to achieve less than a 2.0second 60ft time.

Slip it too fast, and you'll spin too much or bog. Slip it too slow and you'll just kinda ease into the track, slowing you down.

Practice makes perfect.

See? That's it right there. Your trap speed indicated what times approximately you SHOULD be getting.

Get your 60ft times better. Your GSR should be getting better times than that....but I'm sure you knew that.

I have heard somewhere that a tenth of a second faster in your 60ft time gives you two tenths (or was it 3 tenths??) drop in your ET. I don't remember the exact time, but I do know that a faster 60ft time will DEFINITELY make your ET much more to your liking.

EDIT: Do you see what I mean? The 60ft times you listed between you and your friend is not very different. 2.39 and 2.32, yet your quarter mile times are drastically different. See what I mean?

Even your friend's time (60ft) isn't that good. Your trap speed should be low to mid 90's. If you practice and get good, your 60ft can be 2.0 or less.
